I went to the doctor a few days ago for a YI and got a prescription for Diflucan. My labia is still pretty irritated is it ok to put neosporin on my labia to heal the irritated skin or would that exacerbate the problem?

I also just got nuvaring and I'm sure this has been asked a million times. Has anyone ever had it come out during sex or anything? and if I'm stacking it do I put the new ring in at the 3rd week or is effective until the 4th week?

Diflucan can take 5ish days to take effect, so give it some time. Neosporin is a topical antibiotic and can exacerbate a fungal infection by preventing the healthy bacteria from repopulating. Your ring is effective through the fourth week, so you can stack either way you want. Good luck!

I used to use the Nuvaring and it only fell out once during sex. My doctor said it was ok, though, you're still protected even if you leave it out for a few hours.

It was funny, though. My bf was like "wtf is that?!" with a horrified look on his face and I couldn't see the ring lying on the bed because my glasses were off so I freaked out until I could see again.

The most recent update to the FAQ on the Nuvaring website has indicated that in order to remain effective, the ring cannot be out for more than three hours total over the course of the 3 (or 4, if you are stacking) weeks. So no, you should not remove it for sex - if it's uncomfortable or comes out, you can leave it out for 20-30 minutes and reinsert it, but not more to the point where the ring has been out for a total of three hours over the month.

While many users have described removing the ring more frequently and not experiencing pregnancy, they are reducing the ring's effectiveness and placing themselves at higher risk.

I hope that clarifies.

I took the ring out before sex, rinsed it and reinserted it when I peed post-sex. And the ring is effective for four weeks, so if you are stacking it can be better to wait four weeks otherwise your insurance (if you are in the US) might eventually deny you refills. You can also leave the ring in four weeks, take it out one to put even more time in between refills if you every need to.
