Update on my Mirena:

Just got it inserted about an hour and a half ago, and it was pretty painful, but it just felt like your uterus took a bite out of your abdomen. Placement was easy, no numbing necessary. Of course, I did take five Motrin in the two hours before hand, but that's another story. :)

The pain is worth it! A few minutes of intense pain, for 5 years of amazing protection. Can't get better than that!

Ha. I've had a long string of IUDs in and out over the last few decades and none of them have ever given me more pain than a quick cramp. My Dr usually has me take 3 long breaths in a row. Sometimes he does it on "two" and sometimes I don't even feel it at all.

I guess everyone reacts differently. But it doesn't "have to" be painful.

I had horrid cramps before birth control, but I've been on different forms of BC since I was 14, so I haven't experienced that in a while.... but honestly, it's not that bad. Just menstrual cramping!

I got one put in on monday. I would say it was worth the pain, although I nearly passed out and vomited a few minutes after. I've had cramps ever since then too! ugh!

I want Mirena so bad, but I'm scared of insertion and of having something chillax there for 4 years (which is when I want to try again).

It's really not that bad... I thought it would almost feel like a jellyfish just hovering there, but I can't feel a thing, other than cramping.
