Lunchtime chatter
Aug. 21st, 2003 03:56 pmLunch in my office is normally very social. There aren't really many places to go nearby to eat without driving there etc. so many of us brown bag and eat in the conference room together. There aren't many men in our office either, but one of them nearly always joins us for lunch.
The other day, it happened to be all women at the table, and the conversation flowed freely...about bras, and pregnancy and birth control and menstruation and all sorts of things we'd likely not discuss in such graphic detail in front of guys. (Admittedly, my workplace is far from normal...our (male) department head is as clued into our menstrual cycles as anyone woman here, among other things.
I told the story of buying my first bra, we shared first experience stories of all sorts, talked about underwear and how you can't really wear a pad with boxers, and so on.
It's those moments that are among those that make me glad for womanhood.
