Casualties of Trimming

This is more of a commiseration-seeking, "am I the only one?" type of post, but --

Has anyone else ever nicked themselves -- broken skin and/or drawn blood -- while trimming their pubic region?

Me, I've done it too many times to count and with at least 4 different models of trimmer, leading me to believe the common denominator is not the product I'm using. I managed to do it once today while the plastic blade guide/guard was actually on.

Grr.

If I didn't like the trimmed result so much -- and the fact that with shorter pubic hair, my vaginal discharge can't stick my lips: a) to one another; b) to my underwear -- I'd consider ceding victory to the hair.

As it happens, though, that is a non-option. (Shaving, waxing, sugaring, Nair-ing, and epilating are also non-options.)

So.

Tips for surviving a trim unbloodied? Or at least voices letting me know I'm not alone?

My super cheapo method? Big ol' pair of regular scissors. I just pull clumps of hair up by my fingers and snip away. It's never perfectly even, but it's perfectly serviceable for the intended purpose, which is to a) keep things tidy during periods and b) keep the hair short so boyfriend doesn't get long ones in his mouth. I get it down to about a quarter-inch to a half-inch long doing this and since I'm holding the hair up, I can feel when I'm getting too close to the skin with the scissor. I've never nicked myself yet. *knocks fervently on wood*

tbh, it didn't really hurt more than a papercut, it just bled. a lot. like a lot a lot.

I cut myself with scissors too, and I was surprised by how little it hurt, although it did bleed a lot like you said. Luckily it stopped and I didn't have to go to the ER for stitches! that really sucks.

I do that too! Last time i nearly cut myself; but up until now, it worked perfectly and doesnt look that bad.

I've tried scissors in the past, too. Like you, I've never gotten nicked when using them. Unfortunately, I also don't get the hair as short as I'd like -- particularly on the insides of my labia, where, for some reason, I have trouble getting the scissors to cut the hair at all. (I think that's a visual thing: there are only a few long hairs there, so it's harder to judge where to put the scissors to actually cut them.)
