Bactrim

Hey there,

About a week ago I started having symptoms of a UTI.  I rarely get them and have always been able to treat the herbally.  I did my usual routine for a couple of days and the symptoms went away.  A few days later the symptoms came back, and this time the pain when urinating was much more intense.  I decided to go see a doc and get the meds.  I'm on a script of Bactrim.  One tablet twice a day.  I got in my two doses yesterday and I've taken my morning dose today.  How long before the pain subsides?  It's gotten a bit better, but damn!  I'll never take pain-free urination for granted again.

If you go to the pharmacy and ask them for something called AZO, it should help with the pain. It turns your pee orange, but I find it REALLY helps.

yeah, the bactrim never cleared the pain for me, AZO does it and rather quickly too.

UriStat does the same thing, if you cannot find AZO. God bless that stuff.

For me, it generally subsides very quickly. I would expect you to be better by tomorrow actually. If you're not, you may want to call the doctor and let them know you're not feeling better...it may be that you need a different antibiotic.

Same answer as everyone else. AZO will help, they actually gave me some along with my antibiotic when I was pregnant. It will help the pain until the infection goes away. I don't know how long it takes to work, it is supposed to work 72 hours after you start but with my antibiotics, they put me on it for like three months because it just would not go away. I felt fine though after the first week

I get frequent UTI's, and I can go from perfectly normal to go-to-the-ER pain within 2 hours. Once I begin an antibiotic - because it's the only thing that clears up my infections - by the 2nd pill I feel relief, by the 4th pill most of the pain is gone. I always finish the prescription.

Once I was given the orange pills, it's an anti-spasmodic that works directly on the bladder/urethra. They were GREAT, even with the staining.

Hope you feel better soon!
