Something to be worried about? Wacko periods

Hello all,

I was wondering if you might be able to give me some ideas of what might be going on. I had my 4th child in November last year. I got my periods back when he was about 3 months old, but was still breastfeeding. Apart from the first cycle, they have been fairly regular at about 26 days. The last couple of cycles though were about 3 weeks or a little less. My last period lasted 12 days (they always last 7-8 days) and that ended on Sunday (5 days ago) and today I have started bleeding again. I will note that I have been moving house and my son has also been weaning himself off me and during my last period stopped breastfeeding. I'm wondering if this is going on because of my son weaning or if it's something I should be getting checked out. This didn't happen with my 3 other children though. It's really thrown me since I've always been quite regular. I called my doctor but she's not in today and I was told that she might not be able to talk to me until tomorrow afternoon since she's so booked, so any ideas would be appreciated. TIA

*Edited to add* I am not on any form of birth control. I took a pregnancy test a few days into my last period because it was starting slow, but it was negative.

Because of my own experiences, I always advises a thyroid test when one gets period weirdnesses. O:> However, if it's only one? Sometimes a period just goes slightly wonky for no good reason. Could be stress, could be weaning, could be you passed by someone who has powerful menstrual pheromones and your body tried/is trying to sync up... Depending on your age, it might be your ovaries starting their run to retirement...

I would definitely not panic at this time, though it's never a bad thing (if you can afford the co-pay) to talk to a doctor.
