Ok, a long time ago I posted about going to the gyno, and to me that was a very big deal. Well I finally got up the nerve to go, and went, to me it was awful but what's worse is I have to go in again.

I need an ultra sound done because they think there is something wrong with my ovaries. Now I've had ultra sounds done before, but whats different about this one, is they said something has to go in the vagina?? I'm terrified to be naked and this is going to take half an hour. Does anyone know what this is? Have they had it done before and is it as bad as I think it is going to be, I mean does someone's head sit by your crotch for a half an hour? I am so terrified of this thing, not sure I wont' cancel the apptmt.

even if it seems scary, dont you think it would be worth it to see what is going on so you can prevent the development of anything really bad happening to you? I hope you find the courage and go because it is for you! :)

If you can find someone you can count on for emotional support who's willing to go with you, take him or her along! Even just having someone to talk to or a hand to hold can help.

Sounds like a transvaginal ultrasound. It should give the dr a better, clearer view of your ovaries. I have never had one done but I know several folks who have and they all said it wasnt as bad as it sounds. The probe is covered with a condom and covered with ultrasound jelly and inserted gently. It shouldn't hurt at all though it may feel odd when they move it around to get a different angel.

This type of ultrasound is done a lot for early pregnancy since it gives a pretty close, clear shot into the uterus so a few searches on some of the pregnancy web sites should find you even more info.

Hope that helps! And I hope they find your ovaries are just fine!

I've had transvaginal ultrasounds done and they are not too bad. Usually the doctor is standing and you and s/he are looking at a screen together. Only their hand and the probe thingy are down in your crotch. If you have had sex with a man or a dildo before, then it will be fine. I'm sure it will be fine anyway.

as long as your not a virgin, there won't be any pain. I've had tons of 'em. I agree with the other folks that you should try and take someone with you if your feeling extra freaked out. No worries as far as someones head being down there, they wont be. Good luck and let everyone know how it goes. Don't be to hard on yourself for being freaked out. It's a stressful thing to be exposed to people you dont know. Just remember, they see it all the time, and I'm guessing are pretty immune to it.

I had this done about a year ago for Ovarian cysts. Your Dr. was cooler than mine, I thought I was just getting goo on my tummy and whatnot, after that when she asked me to take my pants off and told me the second half I FREAKED.

You have to drink MASSIVE amounts of water for the 1st (external, Belly rub) ultasound so that your bladder is full and pushes your organs up to the surface. By the time they get to you, and you have had the ultra-sound where they push down on your full bladder, you have to pee so bad that taking off your pants will be a relief!

They REALLY REALLY lube this thing, so it doesn't hurt, it just might feel funny if you have never used a dildo or anything (I hadn't) and are not used to inserting plastic things into your vagina. It's not like a penis. The camera is on a long thin rod with a bulb on the top. Almost like a dum-dum lollipop! But bigger than that. You insert it yourself, or they ca do it for you, it's whatever makes you more comfortable.

When inside, they move it around a bit, which hurt me ONLY BECAUSE my cysts were huge. Don't be scared, it might not hurt you. It's really not that bad if you are prepared, and it gives the most accurate results. You can see them!

Let me know if you have any questions and good luck! I had to have my cysts removed surgicaly, so I had a million of these tests. But I'm fine now, and you should be too!
