Aug. 13th, 2003 06:33 pmim new here, and i have a question on something that kind of worries me. i checked the faq and the memories, but i didnt find anything that had to do with my problem. i have had my period for about 4 years and it has always been regular and antiproblematic. lately, ill skip for a month, but i get all of the period-like symptoms, like cramps and a stronger odor, but there is no bleeding. does anyone have any idea what this could be? thanks in advance.

Date: 2003-08-13 05:20 pm (UTC)Before that, I'd have all the symptoms -- bloating, cramps, moodiness -- and spot maybe a day, but never bleed. The next month I'd have an actual period -- or not. I think the record was 80 days between periods. I was a virgin, so pregnancy wasn't a worry; just irregularity caused by the hormone surges as I finished adolescence.
Does this help? I assume you're a teen, since you say you've been bleeding 4 years. Oh, and if you're anorexic, bulimic, or very athletic, your periods can be irregular or absent (not to mention other unpleasant things, if you have an eating disorder).
Info from Dr. Spock. (http://www.drspock.com/article/0,1510,6161,00.html) It mentions polycystic ovarian syndrome as a possible cause, but ovarian cysts hurt like bejeezus and are rather unmistakable.
From webmd. (http://my.webmd.com/content/article/4/1680_50336) Once in a while, women may skip a period and then experience a heavier flow with their next period. This is extremely common...
