Aug. 7th, 2003 04:17 pmhello, i'm new here and this community seems to be good to help a lot of doubts! there's something going on and i needed to know if anyone in here can vaguley relate with this.
i have a "flexible" work schedule and the last months i took the pill (mircette) daily, BUT i did missed it a few times. my doctor advised me to take a month break and start taking the pill in the first period day. so i did. i'm on the 14th day of th cycle and i still haven't stopped bleeding and having the cramps from HELL. back when i was a teenager sans pill, i did used to bleed a lot for like a week and all women in my family had heavy and uncomfortable periods. but this is worrying me, because the painkillers don't seem to work and i haven't stopped bleeding. it's kinda freaking me out. the bleeding is not heavy, just that...it.doesn't.stop. might this be my hormones freaking out/readjusting? i'd be very thankful for any reply :)
oh, and a pregnancy possibility is not even close in the horizon. so there.

Date: 2003-08-07 10:15 am (UTC)Generally it takes 2-3 months to adjust to a new birth control (or re-adjust to birth control after a break). During that time, erratic "breakthrough bleeding" is common. However, if it's excessive, it might be a sign that it's the wrong pill for you. (Personally I've never had breakthrough bleeding on a pill). Before you took the break and got back on, did you have problems with Mircette? Or is this new?
Me, I'm looking into Nuvaring (http://www.nuvaring.com/consumer/aboutNuvaRing/).

Date: 2003-08-07 10:59 am (UTC)i'm gonna be 26 and been on Mircette since 19...did 3 breaks during all this time, and last year's break, didnt had the bleeding from hell, but rather the pains from hell, much like i have now (i'm not really bleeding that much, just a lot more days than usual - my period on the pill used to be like 4 days, and today going on 14? *pulls hair out*). when asking my doctor if i should switch pills, she always told there was no need to. oh well, i guess i'll just be patient and wait to see what happens, before i get more worried and book an appointment at the good ole stirrup party :P
