I have NEVER EVER had real yeast infection problems. Everytime I start to get a little red or itchy, I apply a paste of baking soda and water, and it goes away.

....

NOT THIS TIME!!! After not being on any kind of antibiotics for like 2 years now, I was put on 500 mg of Amoxicillian 3 times a day. That's 1500mg!! And it totally messed me up (at least this is my suspicion) I have had discharge and TERRIBLE TERRIBLE itching for the last 5 days or so. I have never in my 23 years had to deal with something like this, I am ready to cry. My inner labia has bled off and on just from being so tender. The itching is making me absolutely crazy, I want to scream. Are there any instant itch relief things I could do? My baking soda treatment is not working. I am on Ortho Tri Cyclen, just started back on the white pills today, and I stopped taking the antibiotic last week, I'd rather have strep than this!! waahhh!!!

well, first of all: ye gods, no baking soda. You want to lower the pH of your vagina and baking soda will do exactly the opposite. Are you totally opposed to over-the-counter treatment and/or abjectly broke? If not, get thee to the drugstore and get 1) a one-day yeast infection treatment, active ingredient tioconazole, and 2) an anti-itch cream like Vagisil.

If you absolutely cannot or will not do that, check out http://www.msu.edu/user/eisthen/yeast which should give you cheap natural remedies like garlic and plain yogurt (won't work quite as fast, but should still work).

Home remedies are best, I think, for MILD to MODERATE yeast infections, and yours sounds SEVERE. Go to the doctor, or at least CALL them. They could give you some diflucan or mycostatin -- surely they know that amoxicillin can give you a big, fat, raging yeast infection.

Get the 3-day or 7-day cream treatment if you go OTC. The longer period of treatment works better.

hey, skip the Vagisil if it's not helping! The tioconazole takes a couple of days to work completely but it should get rid of the worst of it within a day. If you have some plain yogurt, that's what I use to soothe the itch (it also helps treat the yeast infection). Or ... do you have some hydrocortisone cream? That should help.

I used to take penicillin when I was a kid and I would get yeast infections all the time. Anti biotics seem to be a no no.
