Hi all. I love this community, and have read lots of it. My question is mainly in regards to if there is some other kind of HBC out there in the world that I'm not aware of I could try. My husband and I have come to the conclusion that my being on the nuvaring may be what has KILLED my sex drive. It's like, mentally, I want to have sex. But once we start fooling around, it takes FOREVER for my body to get with the program. Not just lubrication, but the general feeling of being turned on and wanting to "get this show on the road." I've been on the pill (hard to remember), the shot (gained weight and no period for nine months, that was weird), the patch (my obgyn took me off because of blood clot family history and I smoke) and now the ring. While I've managed to never get pregnant, there's issues with all of them. The ring is great in all other ways; easy to remember, light periods, all good things. But sex drive...not so much. We'd like to start trying to get pregnant in about a year or so, so to me that means an IUD would be sort of pointless (and I've never had my cervix dilated, so would hurt more.) That's all the hormonal stuff I can think of. Then there's diaphragms, sponges, condoms, spermicides, etc., but I am not so comfortable with their effectiveness rates. And I hate using condoms and do does my husband. (While it wouldn't be the end of the world to get pregnant now, it's still not the Best Plan Ever. I want to quit smoking and of course have to eliminate alcohol (not that I'm an alcoholic, but I do enjoy a drink now and then) and want to lose ten pounds and just be in ideal health before we start trying.)

Does anyone have any ideas for me? I plan to call the dr tomorrow to check if there's something out there I don't know about, but I feel sad. I've been on the ring for two years and it's great in so many ways. But I want my sex drive back!
