can you guys tell me everything you know about breast cancer, please? My mom was just diagnost and I want to know what her/ my risks are .....thanks!!!!

I am sorry to hear about your mom. I don't have any info on breast cancer, other than it is a very survivable disease, but I am sure a simple google search will find you plenty. Education is a great weapon! My best to your mom!

I'm sorry. A friend of mine recently told me she has breast cancer, and I've had several relatives who've had it, so I know it's hard.

My grandmother and two aunts have had breast cancer. My grandmother and one aunt are still alive (I believe they've both been cancer free for about 10 years now).

A lot depends on how early it's caught. That's why women are encouraged to do breast self-exams and get mammograms. If it's caught before it spreads, they'll probably be able to get rid of it surgically.

Even if it has spread, they can still treat it. That's when you get into chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Since breast cancer is genetic, you are at increased risk yourself. If you don't already know how to do self-exams, learn how, and then do them on a monthly basis. You also may not want to use hormonal birth control.

The web and/or your gynecologist can provide much better information than I'm giving.
