Okay, over the past two months or so I've been suffering/battling a gawd awful yeast infection. I've been to planned parenthood, convenient care, and even the emergency room to try and find out if it's really evil yeast or something worse. Usually I've been given Diflucan or Terazol and sent on my way without any answers. Tomorrow I'm finally going to my family doctor (insurance issues have delayed this) and I hope to get some answers.
I know I need to ask about/get tested for:
My hbc and if it's a contributing factor
My blood sugar, should I fast before the appointment?
HIV
Can you lovely VPers think of anything else I may need to ask my doctor or get tested for?

Your HPC could be a contributing factor, It alters your hormones which can alter your PH which can lead to fun.
If you are only on HBC for BC and where happy with your period ect, you may want to look into a a nonhormonal IUD. I have the paragard & <3 it. No hormones is lovely.
Though I don't know what your GP would know over planned parenthood or a Gyno.
Good luck!

Date: 2009-03-26 01:04 am (UTC)Good luck! Sorry I don't have any real advice. Oh, I guess if you are wanting your blood glucose level to be tested at the appointment, you should fast before hand (I think 12 hours is what is normally recommended), but then again you may fast and then get there and have the doctor tell you to come back for another appointment for the test.

Date: 2009-03-26 02:18 am (UTC)also, i was just surprised that BOTH didn't do it - they're both pretty effective (especially two pills of diflucan; one often doesn't work).

Date: 2009-03-26 01:47 pm (UTC)People use it full strength, in capsules all the time. But if you're nervous about that (or just don't feel like making capsules!) you can just use it as a douche. I use about 1 heaping TB to 60ml water.
I've never felt even the slightest bit of burning or irritation, and have never heard from anyone who has.
