New IUD and Colposcopy

Does anyone have any information on getting a colposcopy for an abnormal HPV cells having a week old Mirena in?

My friend got her IUD last Friday, and then finds out she needs a colposcopy for an abnormal Pap. Will the Mirena have to be removed? Is it able to be performed with strings in?

I wouldnt think it would get in the way, they can just push the stings to one side or the other.

My IUD was never taken out when I had my colposcopy after the insertion.

an IUD doesn't interfere with a colpo at all. if your friend should need a more advanced procedure, she may then need to have her Mirena removed, and another inserted post-procedure.

Yup - its fine to have a colpo with a IUD in. :)
