I've had a yeast infection for almost a month and a half now.  During that time I feel like I've done everything possible to get rid of it, and yet my vag is still infected, wreaking havoc on my life.  My inability to cure this infection has made me feel very depressed, and very hopeless.  I feel like neither my nether regions, or my sex life will ever get back to normal.

I first noticed things weren't quite right about a month and a half ago.  Sex was painful, and afterward I noticed an odd smell down there.  I, naturally, started freaking out.  The next day I used a monistat one.  The smell was gone, but I was beginning to have discharge.  Later that week I went to planned parenthood.  They diagnosed me with a yeast infection and gave me some terazol 7.  About halfway through the treatment I got my period.  I continued to use the cream for a full seven days.  My symptoms were gone until the tail end of my period, when it started itching again.

During this time I also used cloves of garlic (I ate them raw and used them vaginally), Apple cider vinegar (although I only poured some in a tub of fresh water and sort of swished it in.  I didn't douche with it), Acidiophilus capsules (Orally and vaginally, although mostly orally).  Diet cranberry juice, cranberry extract, and plain yogurt (vaginally),

Somewhere in the middle of this I was prescribed antibiotics for a bladder infection and an infected lymphnode.  I was prescribed two rounds of diflucan and took them after I finished the antibiotics.  They did very little for my infection.

After this I went back to planned parenthood.  This time it turns out I had a YI and BV.  I was given another seven days of terazol and a generic for flagyl.  I also changed my birth control from Ortrho Tri Cyclen Lo to Ortho Micronor, because I thought the Estrogen may have something to do with my YI's.

I took the BV treatment and the YI treatment at the same time.  Could that be part of my problem? I felt like I was getting better, and about four days into my treatment, I started my period.  Yesterday I finally stopped spotting, but the itching stared, and this morning there was discharge.   I also want to add that the last time I was at planned parenthood, they tested my blood sugar and it was normal.  I've also tried my hardest to avoid carbs and sugars.  However I have been eating a lot of fruit.  Could this be part of the problem?

Does anybody have any suggestions of what I could or should do to try and treat this thing?  Is there anything I am missing?  I think I am going to try gentian violet next.

Spend some time in a long skirt with no panties? When I get the stubborn ones that wont go away , i spend as much time as possible airing out, I load up on probiotics (i like probiotic gold from walgreens: claims to have over 2 billion active at time of manufacture). I take 3 orally, then insert one and hope for the best.

Are yo still having sex? get your ppartner treated too. They might be passing it back to you unknowingly.
Do you use soap when you wash? stop. Water is all you need and a rinse. If you must use soap, try not to get it on the inside of your lips.. just the outside.

Try switching laundry soap. Me, I can not wash my panties with detergant. I use dove or pamolive dish soap, because it doesnt make me itch. Or switch to baking soda and vineger as a base wash (i just kinda pour them in.. i guess i use about a half cup or so of each in a small load.. more for larger loads).

after that..the only other things i can think of are whether you are diabetic, or on other meds... and maybe you should look up the canidia diet (i may have butchered spelling)

I have been recommended Boric Acid in soft capsuels by a good friend of mine, just insert one into your vagina when you go to bed. It should "leak" a little which is why you want to do it overnight rather than in the day but it also should create an ph that bad things don't want to grow in.

I also hear flagil often causes YI, I just finished a round for BV as well.

Good luck!

Could you be having irritation from your menstrual products? It read to me like there was a return in itching when your period ended both months. Might be worth thinking about...

Feel better!
