So, I've noticed that I had a 2-day, VERY light (pantliner only!) period this month. I attribute this to my recent Depo-Provera shot (Jan), and I think I've paid my dues, considering that I dripped random blood for a solid month after getting the shot. Of course, I'm WAY STOKED about having a 2-day period, and I completely stopped bleeding after that... and I'm REALLY hoping my period doesn't come back in March.

But here's the catch. Since the shot, sex wasn't that... wonderful. Now, the person I had sex with, I've had sex with before, so I know it has nothing to do with them. I don't know, it's like I wasn't fully into it. I mean, I was INTO it, because I always am, but I wasn't "hardcore-scorpio-put-a-pillow-over-my-face-so-we-don't-wake-mama" into it like I usually am :\

I worried that this may be a side-effect of the shot.

So the question: Is anyone in here on the shot? And if so, have they experienced this??? And for all of you, on the shot or not... Is not having your period ever again worth having lack-luster sex for the rest of your lives??? *Please bare in mind before you answer this that my periods were completely incapacitating due to heavy bleeding, cramps, back-pain, nausea, head-aches, you name it*

I didnt have a period for the entire year I was on the shot (which I loved) however I gained 40 pounds, which according to my doctor is a common side effect (but not for everyone).
I did notice that for the first 3 months or so that my sex drive was way down, but it rebounded to normal after that.

i gained weight, became a psycho, and had my period for 4 months straight. oh yeah, lost sex drive, too. depo provera is evil (at least i think so)

I suspect it has more to do with incidence of occurance than what they think you're most concerned about. If weight gain happens to 50% of people, and liver problems happen to .01% (made up numbers. I have no idea what the real statistics are), it makes sense to give more warning about the side effect that is most likely to happen.

More sense from a standpoint of avoiding further questions, anyways. From a health standpoint, it would make sense to emphasize both common and potentially dangerous side effects.

I won't go on depo provera because of the weight gain side effect. I can't afford new clothes. :p

Depo is not for me.. I'm fat as it is and the idea of gaining even more weight does not appeal to me.

I ate the same stuff I usually ate in the same amounts and gained about 15 lbs I believe.

if it's going well for you than great. i don't think anyone should have to go through the hell I went through. i had all those effects that i listed above, PLUS a constant headache and muscle aches. Make sure you take in a lot of calcium.

check out this site.. http://www.depo-users.com/
there's a lot of useful information on there, plus a survey type deal showing what percentages of women have experienced which side effects. good luck.
