It's not actually a hard-and-fast rule that you shouldn't take estrogen if you get migraines with aura (I just did some googling, since I get auras too). Apparently the medical community is up in the air about it right now, since it used to be the case that there was a high risk of stroke. With the new pill formulations, some doctors are saying that the risk isn't worth worrying about, especially in young women.
