hey guys,
im just wondering what a sudden abundance of smegma would mean?
I always had a bit but i shower often (at least once a day) and i never really noticed it. for the past month or so, i have noticed (somewhat on and off) that i have a lot of it. even though i am still showering regularly. it even builds up to the point where it is itchy and uncomfortable. The affected area is between my outer and inner lips..that deep fold.

just wondering if this is a sign of anything else, i don't have any STDs or any other symptoms. thanks!

i have never heard of a significance of it. but it has happened to me a few times. just kind of odd, haha. maybe the body has cycles of sloughing off more dead skin that usual, or maybe you just got more sweaty that usual lately? or your skin has been producing more oil? (that's what i think it's made of, right, dead skin, oils and sweat.) probably no cause for alarm, unless it's bothering you a lot.

Hmm, any new undies or anything like that? If you have no other symptoms I don't think it's anything you need to worry about. However, since it is making you a bit itchy, I'm sure it'd be nice to figure out what's causing it.

Are you sure it's not an external yeast infection? I say that only because I didn't think it was possible to produce enough smegma to be actively itchy, and a really mild YI can at least look like a lot of smegma at first. Although, if you have particularly sensitive skin and use soap on that area in the shower, you might be irritating the skin into overproducing smegma. . . maybe try switching to washing only with water or with a very mild "sensitive skin" soap? I guess this is why Vagisil was invented. Feel better!

i don't really have any advice as to why it happens, but it happens to me a lot too, doesn't happen all the time, just every once in a while and it will last for a few days. i get it in the same place as you as well as under my clitoral hood. stops itching as soon as i clean it off. i think just the extra stuff being there irritates the skin a little bit. i always just assumed it was normal for me... but i have no idea?
