Hey wonderful vagpag readers,

I was having fairly rough sex earlier today (first time in a month) and at one point, he slipped out and we banged together in a rather ouchy manner. No big deal, a little wince and then we got back together. Until we finish up, look down and there's a tide of blood over our stomachs and thighs... and I am exactly two weeks away from starting my period. No good.

I went to pee, hurt like anything, the bowl's filled with blood. A little compact-inspection later, and I discover that SOMEHOW, I managed to gouge two short, fairly deep little cuts on either side of my urethra, just inside the labia minora. Several hours later, there's still plenty of red, fresh blood, and it makes me pretty woozy to look at it.

1) Is there anything I need to do about this, besides putting on some neosporin and taking a break from sex for a little while? Is there anything I CAN do? I'm not sure a doctor would be able to tell me anything other than I fail at sex.

2) Is there anything I can do so that it hurts less to pee?

Thanks everyone, I've never had anything like this happen before.

I would go to the ED if you're still bleeding profusely, you may need a stitch or two.

*nods* Use some of the neosporin plus (or generic) that has Pramoxine in it. Pramoxine is the main anesthetic ingredient in a foam that they give to women in the hospital after birth that have torn or had episiotimies to make it easier to do things like pee, sit, etc.

Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuch

Definitely use the neosporin. I've heard that when an injury makes peeing painful, something called a "peri bottle" can make it more comfortable. Basically, you squirt water onto the ouchy area as you're peeing, and it dilutes/washes away the urine so that it doesn't sting so much. You could probably use something else, like one of those ear wax removal bulbs. :)

Good luck! This post made me wince, and I'm not even very squeamish!

I second this. It will also be good because it'll clean you up a bit down there after a wee.

Also, I'd say pat dry...don't wipe too hard! Poor thing I hope you feel better soon!!!

I definitely feel your pain! I have a skin condition that makes my skin extremely fragile, so small cuts/wounds down there are unfortunately not uncommon for me, especially after a roll in the hay. I find it really helps to smear a bit of vaseline on and around the affected area, which basically provides a barrier between the wounds and the ammonia in the urine that makes them sting. It also seems to help things heal faster, at least for me. The idea of squirting a bit of water on the area while you pee is essentially the same principle, and works great too.

Feel better soon! Believe me, I know exaaaactly what you're going through. Not fun at all. ;)

I too winced! Ouch!! I might ice it if its really hurting? or at least sit on a frozen bag of veggies for a while. and i'd definitely be pouring a cup of water over myself while i peed! or if it really really hurts, filling up the tub with a bit of water and peeing in that, and then taking a shower. :)

You might find taking the supplement L-Lysine to help, it helps with skin regeneration.

My midwife suggested that, after childbirth, I take a bunch of maxi pads, cut them in half, soak them with water, roll them up in plastic wrap, and stick them in the freezer. Perfectly sized/shaped "ice bullets" to fit discreetly into undies.

Ouch! I get torn up during sex occasionally; there's really not a whole lot you can do. Luckily the area heals pretty quickly though. I usually bleed a bit for a few days after; as long as you're not like, bleeding through pads, you should be okay. I've heard of people using pain relieving neosporin or lidocaine sprays, but I don't usually bother. Oddly, I've found that staying really super hydrated makes peeing less painful. I guess maybe it dilutes the urine?

Ouch!

As far as reducing the pain while you pee... after my son was born, my midwife gave me a "peri-bottle" (it kind of looked like one of those diner ketchup bottles to me, only clear). I think someone mentioned it in a comment above, but what my midwife did differently was instructed me to put just a couple drops of iodine in the bottle of warm water. The warm water helped to keep the painful stuff away from the tears, and the iodine helped to make sure nothing nasty/dangerous got into them.
I hope you feel better soon!

Another thing you could possibly do to keep he pain away when peeing is putting some sterile (i.e. tubed) KY jelly on the cuts. We do this at work (I'm a vet tech) when we need to use rubbing alcohol or other painful stuff around an animal's open wounds.

Of course, the area your cuts are in might make this difficult, but I thought it was worth mentioning :)

You could also cool and soothe the cuts with a tucks pad (for hemorrhoids). They contain witch hazel, which disinfects and heals while still being gentle and ph balanced. I use them after rough sex to clean and heal.
