UTIs & baby wipes

So, I'm rather prone to UTIs. I don't get them every week, but I've had my share.

Recently I bought a pack of non-scented baby wipes from the drugstore. I was wondering if using them to wipe my vagina after sex would help in addition to peeing (or be worse, or have no effect).

What is everyone else's experience? And if it is helpful, should I wipe before/after peeing?

i use baby wipes all the time, and i'm really prone to UTIs. they do seem to help though i've noticed that it's a good idea to 'dry off' after using them (just sort of pat dry with a piece of TP). if nothing else i feel cleaner and i don't seem to have as much of a risk of cross contaminating that way.

Just a heads up: when I tried using wipes to clean up, I always ended up with a YI.

As a repeat customer with UTIs I'd stay away from baby wipes myself, but you said they were unscented so I guess you will probably be ok. As for me, I pee before and after sex, and usually wash with just plain water after sex. I haven't had a UTI in a year :)

i use baby wipes all the time and I've never gotten an UTI as a result. Though, I may be a little different because I've had a full hyst.

If there is alcohol in the baby wipes and you're prone to UTI's I'd probably pick out a different product, but baby wipes are sensitive enough not to cause more UTI's as are other feminine wipes. I am also prone to UTI's. After sex I've always peed and then wiped well with wet toilet paper. Since I started doing this I haven't had anymore UTI's. I think the baby wipes would be helpful.

I always use unscented hippy-type/natural baby wipes after sex. I don't get UTI's, but I've only ever had one (no more for me, thanks). I mostly just use them because it's better than getting crusty or sleeping in a puddle, and with the unscented ones, I've never gotten any imbalances from them. If anything, I seem to get less YIs because everything's not all damp and squelchy after.

It seems like it would be a fairly gentle way to keep bacteria away from your urethra, though. To my thinking, it'd make more sense to wipe off before you went pee, because you'd be cleaning the outside, then peeing to clean the entrance to your urethra.

i personally find they can dry me out, which irritates my urethra further. my own natural discharge, ive found is pretty important to keeping things comfy down there.

if no shower is available i always carry a few in my bag.
