I came down with something awful a couple of weeks ago, and foolishly went to the doctor's office in hopes that he could give me something that would clear up my symptoms. (I had a gig that weekend, and was hoping to be able to sing..) Of course, that didn't work out. I hadn't taken antibiotics in years, and against my better judgement - I took the prescription given to me: Augmentin.

I swear to god, it's evil in a bottle. Pure evil. Now I remember why I hadn't taken antibiotics in ages. Unless I am knocking on death's door, I will never, ever touch antibiotics again.

I've managed to clear my yeast infection by using yogurt and garlic, but now I'm left with horrible cuts all over my vag and other, not so great areas. I tried using a little bit of vitamin E oil on them, but honestly I'd have to use it *everywhere* to get relief, and it just ends up irritating things even more. (Too sticky, I suppose.) Yesterday I started feeling the onset of a UTI - so I immediately started taking vitamin C, cranberry pills and drinking water like a crazy woman. Normally this works well for me - and my symptoms disappear in a day or so.

.. but here's my real rant:

I teach private music lessons, in half hour increments. I have 10 of them to teach this afternoon, which means I'll have to sit for five hours. I have to pee about every half hour, so each time a student comes in, I'll have to excuse myself to the restroom. I've been wearing long, loose skirts, so at least I don't have to sit *too* lady like, but still! This afternoon is going to be torturous, but there's nothing I can do about it.

Antibiotics are the devil. I just want my vag to be normal again!!!

Generally, if I think I'm getting a normal YI (as in, not antibiotic related), I get on the garlic bandwagon. HOWEVER, when I get antibiotics (which invariably give me a yeastie), I ask for the yeastie pill (...I can't for the life of me remember the name at the moment, darn), wait a few days after finishing the antibiotics, and then take it. Because it make me rather considerably happier.

Sorry about your vag woes, though. None of that sounds fun :(

Aw, well, at least she's on the mend. Give her lots of lovin' -- though not of the 'self-love' sort, I don't think she'd appreciate that at the moment ;)

i feel your pain (well, your YI pain anyway). as i just posted to VP-- i recently had an upper respiratory infection (or so the dr. thought) and she prescribed me antibiotics for it. i still don't even know whether the antibiotics helped the respiratory thing, but i do know they gave me a yeast infection, and i think i would rather have possibly suffered through the cough for a little longer than have had the crotch rot. and, so, yeah, i am totally in agreement about not taking antibiotics again unless absolutely positively critically necessary.

oh, and also, since i too am treating myself with yogurt (and tea tree oil), can i ask you how long it took for your YI to clear up?

yeah, i was a little too intimidated by the instructions i read online for using tea tree oil straight (and i think it might indeed have seemed too harsh if i went that route with it), so i'm glad i found some tea tree oil suppositories at a local health food store. they consisted of tea tree oil (the box specified the milligrams, i think, but i have since thrown the box away) and hydrogenated vegetable oil, or something.

i like garlic but i'm just not sure i like it enough to stuff it up my "vag"!
