Hello, ladies. I posted a while ago asking how depo provera worked out for you lucky gals with endometriosis.

As of now, I'm still undiagnosed. I've been on depo for two ish weeks. The first week I was still on my other BC to cover the 7 day unprotected period and it was wonderful- the spotting/pseudo bleeding was completely gone and I was pain free. Now that those pills are out of my system, I'm cramped up again and bleeding almost like a normal period.

Normal? To be expected until I'm used to the Depo? Something wrong?

I'm honestly so upset that I can't stop hurting and bleeding that I'm really starting to hate my body. I don't know if I'm so sad because the Depo may cause depression (in 2% of users) or I'm just so upset that I can't fix myself and my doctor has yet to do so as well...

i felt really weird when i had my first depo shot. I had just expelled an IUD and got the shot to hold me over until i could get in to get my implant. The day after i got the shot i started a 13 day long crampy heavy period (complete with a migraine the whole time). I was very moody while it was in my system, but that first month was the worst. Give it awhile, it does take some getting used to.

I'm sorry I have no info on the depo thing (went the Mirena route for my endo) but I'd like to say that I can totally sympathise with you. I was symptomatic for 25 out of every 28 days, and the 3 no-hurty days were spent sobbing and screaming out of sheer dread and horror at what was coming. I used to dissolve into floods of tears at work, and I began to hate and fear my body. I know how much the constant pain, and uncertainty about what might happen next, can turn anyone into a terrified kid. I think you have every right to feel sad that what should be a basic biological function is causing so much grief.
I really hope the depo starts working for you. Big hugs and good luck. I'll cross my fingers for you.

For me depo was fine bleeding wise. After the second shot I stopped altogether and was on Depo for about a year and a half. I never bled anymore after the first month bleeding/spotting. However, (isn't there always a however/but) I gained like 90 pounds during that time and even now that I've been off it for several years cant get the weight off. And I was a small person to start with, weighing barely 95 pounds when I got married. So the weight has not been enjoyable. :/

I LOVED Depo. The first shot made me a little nuts, and I bled for a lot of it but after that it was great. I gained a little weight the first year, but after that the gaining stopped and I lost what i had gained, I stayed on it for several years without problems, and if anything it helped with my depression. Stick it out for a few shots, give your body a chance to adjust.

i had my first shot like a month ago-- i don't have endo. so far i haven't had any problems. though, my period started 5 days ago, and it's been REALLY light compared to normal. i just hope it stops, unlike some of the horror stories i've read.

i started depo in january of '08, and i had my second shot about 3-4 weeks ago. the last 5 weeks of my first shot, i bled. it started really light, i didn't even have to wear a tampon or anything. after the second week the bleeding got pretty heavy, but it was easy to deal with. when i finally got my second shot it went away the next day. i've only gained like 5-6 poounds so far, but that could also be because i'm recovering from an eating disorder. i happen to like depo even with all the side effects.
