Okay I posted a blog a while ago about my new birth control called Quensense and how i had not felt any side effects yet but now I am wondering if I am starting to actually get something. I am starting to feel tired more than usual, like all my energy has been sucked out of me when i wake up in the morning. My libedo has gone down, I usually masturbate everyday or have sex when ever i can with my boyfriend, which doesnt happen very often because his libedo is shot from school, but mine is now lower than his. I feel an uncomfortable sense of just...blahness, or mellow, which is just way unnerving. I dont really like getting in fights but i have also been a little bit testy but i am starting to think that is due to my tiredness.

The other night my boyfriend and I started out the day planning to do some role playing that night and for me to take a shower so he could eat me out. Well by the time it got around i just could not get into the mood, so we said that we would try it tomarrow. Well last night we tried it and i tried to get into the mood in the shower i even masturbated which took longer than normal, before the shower and i still was not going anywhere. Finally after my shower we decided that we would give it a go. I got all dressed up and we started the role playing, and it wasent until he broke out the whip and started light smaking my ass then i got wet but i still was not in the mood to have sex. It is so fucking wierd. I am usually always the one who is like okay lets get dirty and screw around, all the time, but not right now. I know its not my boyfriend cause i am just not getting turned on at anything, not even frekin porn.

I dont know what is wrong with me. I know that some women on this forum have taken Quesense or Seasonale and I was wondering if anyone else including these women have experienced the same things that i have? Dont get me wrong i definatly enjoyed it last night when we finally started to have sex but the forplay didnt get me going or anything. So is this normal? Is it the BC pills? Or my mood? Or even the season change? I dont know what it is but i definatly want to find out, maybe i should go and talk to a doctor? Please help me i am so alone and lost on this one!!!

HBC has affected women's libidos, yes, so it could easily be the HBC. You may want to change pills or -- if possible -- figure out what your libido does during placebo weeks? (If Quensense has them.)

(If you weren't on HBC, I'd trot out my hobby-horse of fatigue and hypothyroidism, but I'd look at the HBC first in this case.)

You totally just made me picture a horse like the one in The Science of Sleep, trotting out and neighing.

Excellent. :D

Sadly, I don't think I've seen that!
I wish I were better at modding My Little Ponies. I could put a little "VP" on its haunch, superimposed on a green Unithroid pill... O:>

Im on Quasense too but I pretty much have no side effects. My libido is just as high as ever and I stay squishy.

Changes in libido are definitely a potential side effect (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Hormonal_Birth_Control#Common_Side_Effects) of hormonal birth control -- not one that all women experience (even all women on a particular brand of HBC), but certainly a possibility with any brand.

It's usually recommended that HBC users allow their bodies around three months to adjust to a new type of HBC -- if this particular side effect continues beyond that window (or if you're still within that window and it's bothering you enough that it's not worth waiting), then you may want to ask your health care provider about switching brands. :)

I'm on seasonale and it made my libido get way stronger, but I like it, so i'm stickin with it.

HOWEVER, i've had plenty of negative experiences with generic birth control (extreme mood swings within just a week or two of taking generic), so maybe if you can afford it, try the name brand or other generic brands of the same BC. most of the time you can just exchange it out at the pharmacy for the name brand i think.

even so, hormonal birth control affects everyone's body differently, and we can only offer our own experiences as a comparison. I hope you figure all this out, and from what you said above it sounds like what i went through.

I'm on a different Seasonale generic, Jolessa, and I haven't really noticed a difference in my libido.

Do you take a multi-vitamin? HBC does wipe out the b vitamins, so if you don't take one, that might help. I was (and still am) taking a multi-vitamin when I switched to Jolessa.

I don't know, I've mostly lucked out with my HBC use, I've never really experienced many side effects. except for vaginal dryness, which is easily remedied with lube.
