So I went off the pill about a month ago, and proceeded to put myself in a slightly risky situation... and now I'm a few days late.

My cycle hasn't snapped back to normal (very short) and it's not sticking to what it was on the pill. I know I'm probably paranoid over nothing, but I just have this nagging bad feeling and need some reassurance that it's normal for things to be off after going off bc.

Does anyone have any advice about bringing on your period herbally?

If there's already a post on this please just refer me there.

I was on Seasonale for about 4 or 5 months last year and my period STILL isn't back to normal. I've gone up to 2 months without a period. My doctor says I check out okay, my body just doesn't react to hormones well. :3

If you're truly worried about it, I'd recommend seeing your doctor as soon as possible. You could be pregnant or you could still be processing the hormones. It's different for everyone. :)

i went off my bc pills in december and went a whole month without a period. so i think it's normal for your body to readjust.

During the adjustment process, which can last several months, you may experience irregular menstrual cycles as the hormones work their way out of your system. This can include longer, shorter, or irregular cycles as well as longer, shorter, or even missed periods (http://www.vaginapagina.com/index.php?title=Hormonal_Birth_Control#What_effects_can_I_experience_as_my_body_adjusts_to_being_off_HBC.3F)

you could always go to the dollar store and get a 1 dollar test, then you'd feel better and know for sure you aren't.

As for the herbal period-inducement... Parsley tea is the one I hear most often. (I wonder if chamomile might help as well? Raspberry leaf?)

actually,

i regulate my cycles with herbals. i was put on HBC to regulate them, and every single variety i tried messed me up emotionally on a hellatious level and eventually, my psyche couldn't stand it.

black or blue cohosh, raspberry leaf tea, or parsley all help to induce uterine contracting and shedding of uterine tissue. so does dong quai, and angelica.

for the teas, raspberry and parsley are the easiest. bout a tablespoon of herbs in a tea ball, let steep until it' snice and strong. three cups a day will be fine.

if you want to do what i do, there's product (originally for menopause) made by Spring Valley that you can get at walmart. it's cheap, and it's good. if you have an herbalist or an herb store near you, then you can probably find "woman's issues' pills there as well.

the spring valley pills contain black and blue cohos, raspberry leaf, and some other stuff in a twice-a-day pill pack. (make sure you read the box, and that you are not incompatible with any of the other ingredients.) i start five days before when my period should arrive, taking the pills morning and evening. when my period shows, i take the pills that day, and the next. i also track when my period WAS, so that i can start the next round at the appropriate time the next month.

if you have had regular cycles before, and just want to jump start your system, i recommend getting the pills and taking them every day until you bleed, then starting from there.

i used these to regulate my VERY irregular cycle, sand my body has actually reacted by evening itself out. i still take them, to make sure everythings even, and i'm having regular periods, but my body is much happier now. (and way more happy than it ever was on HBC).

but in general, herbs to aid in mentruation include black and/or blue cohosh, red raspberry leaf, parsley, dong quai, angelica.
