Good morning,
I found this community before my operation and waited until after my experience to join and post. Hopefully someone in the same situation can benefit from my story.
For three years I've been trying to have sex but could never get full penetration. I tried forcing it, I tried the full kit from http://www.vaginismus.com, and I tried different positions and different guys. Finally my local doctor (Japan) agreed that my hymen just won't stretch, and he recommended me to a bigger hospital for a hymenectomy.
The second hospital was reluctant to schedule it because they have no experience with this operation, but I pleaded with the doctor to believe me that there were no alternatives left for me. Because I've been with my boyfriend for over a year he could tell I was serious. That was in November, and my operation was scheduled for February, when my office would be closed for a few days. But my work schedule changed (slid by one day) and I had to cancel that original booking. I was so disappointed and wouldn't be able to get another appointment at that hospital for months.
My mind finally wandered to Thailand, famous for sex-change surgeries. A hymenectomy would be very simple compared to a male-to-female surgery, so I applied to all the decent-looking hospitals I found online. Hygeia Beauty made arrangements for me at Yanhee International Hospital in Bangkok. I was very nervous, but it seemed like they had a good reputation for plastic surgery and experience with International Patients.
I decided to go to Thailand even if my operation appointment was denied, and I just got back after four days there (February 13-17.) I had a great time around Bangkok and would recommend it to anyone.
THE SURGERY
In the morning I met with my English-language go-between and registered at the hospital. The doctor (all-female OBGYN department) talked to me and took a quick look before decided to go through with the operation, which she wrote down as a hymenotomy, not hymenectomy. Most International patients scheduling vaginal surgery are hoping for a _tighter_ opening so there was a bit of confusing with the billing. In total, my visit to Yanhee was short of US$600 (over 17,000 Thai baht.)
The surgical nurses were very friendly and spoke good English. I waited laying down with a fluid IV in the back of my hand, and later they wheeled me into the OR and got everything ready. My legs and arms were strapped down, and my eyes were covered. The anaesthesia was injected through the IV in my hand, and I woke up an hour later in another room. They let me go as soon as I felt ready.
After I got back to my hotel, I got lunch (I wasn't allowed to eat breakfast before) and was surprised I could walk around without pain. At first I panicked, wondering if they did the operation at all, but I've had very light bleeding (like the last day of my period) and it's still a little sore. Today (5 days later) I was able to ride my bicycle comfortably with only a little extra spotting.
I have to wait a few weeks before I can test the ~final results~ of my hymenotomy, but I think it will be good.
