unknown pregnancy/miscarriage?

The last period I had was Christmas. I had sex with condoms in January and started my first pack of birth control pills after one day of light bleeding which I thought was a period the last week of January. That bleeding lasted less than a day and I thought it was just because I started taking the pill. (Yaz) My breasts have been very sore the past few weeks and I just assumed it was the new birth control pill. Last week I started having brown spotting, again, thought it was from HBC. Last night, I had more bleeding and cramps and I passed a greyish tissue like thing. It was round, not stringy at all, it was stretchy kind of, I didn't really want to touch it or explore it too much, I was too disturbed by it. I started putting pieces together and realized that I might have had a miscarriage. Is this what it sounds like? Was I pregnant? The bleeding has gotten a little better since that passed, but I am still bleeding and have an appointment at my doctors this afternoon. WIll they be able to tell me anything since I didn't know if I was pregnant or not before this happened? I'm guessing, if this was a miscarriage, I was around 5-6 weeks pregnant.
