Unusually light period

Hey all! I've been on Nuva Ring for about a year and haven't had any problems or noticed any changes from what my periods were like without any birth control. However, last month I accidentally took out the ring a week early, but I had a normal period and everything. I called my pharmacist and she told me to just put in the ring after a week and I should be OK, which is what I did. Well, this month my period was really light, and when I told my boyfriend, he kind of freaked out and thought I must be pregnant. That thought hadn't even crossed my mind; I assumed my body was still adjusting to having its natural clock changed, but he's been nagging me and now I'm wondering...should I buy a pregnancy test just to be sure?
