Hi all,

I'm thinking about making a trip to the local Planned Parenthood for an HBC prescription, since my school insurance no longer covers the NuvaRing and I'd prefer not to take the pill. I just wanted to ask if PPs charge for the first visit, and if so, about how much I should expect. Thanks :)

What state are you in?

I'm in Oregon and since I make less than $23,000 a year (I think that's the cut off) I get a yearly Pap and birth control completely free from PP. But, in other states people have to pay nearly as much as they would at a regular doctor for HBC, and in other states they have sliding scales.

PPs vary a lot. When I lived in Iowa, *everything* was free. Everything. In Minnesota (my income's the same etc etc), everything is very much *not* free. If you can, call up the one you plan to go to and just ask.

Scroll down, they give the number to call if you are uninsured and want to be seen and say services may be at a reduced cost. If you are insured, the website addresses that too.
