I am in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend and saw him two weeks ago (after 6 weeks of being apart). All throughout our sex life everything has been absolutely great. But every time we had sex over the weekend I was there it hurt really badly. The pain is almost like a burning feeling that is really uncomfortable during penetration and more so depending on the position (me on top wasn't as bad), and for some reason fingering is nowhere near as bad. The pain was really uncomfortable, though, sex is pretty unenjoyable and I only tolerated it for his sake. I'm really thrown off because this has never happened before; the symptoms sound like vulvodynia but I'm really hoping it's something I can treat.

Also, around the time I went to go see him I noticed that I was having more discharge than usual, and it was really uncomfortable, but then after I would shower and put on clean underwear I would just be really dry. This has gotten somewhat better since I've been home, but my discharge is still kind of weird and dries crusty. I also notice that if I wear the same underwear for too long my vulva will be painful to the touch all around the vaginal opening and even back toward the anus, but as soon as I change underwear this subsides. I'm seriously at a loss and will probably go see a doctor soon if it doesn't get better, but I was just wondering if anyone had insight into what was going on/if there was anything over the counter that would help.

Thanks!

The only thing I can think of is some type of infection, perhaps urinary tract. Those were my first symptoms before I developed the more "fun" symptoms of a UTI -- burning when urinating, urinating blood, and bladder pain.

Can't be sure, though. Could be a host of different things.

you need to go to the dr. it sounds like an infection of some kind.
when i had chronic bv for a while, i had the same probs:
painful sex, a lot of discharge, pain when i wore the same crusty underwear for too long (6-8 hrs), dryness after showering.
that said, i also have vvs, which probably contributed.

Doctors usually only diagnose vulvodynia if you have the symptoms long-term. What you're describing sounds more short-term than long-term, so I would be more inclined to just chalk it up to "One of those things" or some kind of infection. Go to a gyno as soon as you can to get checked out for things like BV & yeast first, then just keep an eye on it.

My first guess would be BV (pain upon penetration, burning, lots of discharge). BV can go away on its own, but it is generally treated with antibiotics. You should see a doctor to get properly diagnosed and get appropriate treatment.

Meanwhile, warm baths, cool compresses, and taking an antihistamine may help with the pain.

I would say either BV, or some type of allergy to scented TP, your laundry detergent, or fabric softener.
