I have had something similar going on for the past five months now. First it was a yeast infection that completely went away. Now they (I've been regularly seeing three different gynos for this problem) don't know what is going on. They've done cultures, checked for STDs, I've gone through multiple swabbings and I still have no answers.
The last time I went to my gyno, she swabbed the discharge and my cervix to check under the microscope. She said there was no evidence of any yeast or infections of any sort but it did look abnormal. I asked for if she could be more specific but the best she was able to offer me was "well, it doesn't look like any sort of STD" (which had already been ruled out two weeks prior. And two months prior to that).
My gyno said to treat it like irritation for the time being. She recommended using Cetaphil when cleaning my lady bits and soaking in a bathtub with about half a cup of baking soda mixed in twice a day until symptoms improved. I have had a good deal of relief (no more weird discharge, not much itching) but on occasion I still have some moderate pain when attempting to insert a tampon or intercourse.
Sorry that I can't offer any insight or advice, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone. If you are able to get some answers, please let me know so I can harass my doctors with some ideas. :) And if I get any suggestions or answers, I will of course let you know.
