I find the whole procedure uncomfortable, but not AUGH PAIN. Having my cervix swabbed is... ooky. Not quite crampy, not quite nausea, but a certain amount of "no, I don't really like this." But it doesn't last long.
Breathe, relax your legs, go ahead and clutch the edge of the table, talk to the doctor if you can... Should be fine. O:>
