Hello VP land! I recently started using the nuvaring (put it in on tuesday) after being on the shot for almost 2 years. This morning I pulled it out, and there was a LOT of thick, white, creamy discharge on it. I attempted to put it back in after washing it, and when it wouldnt go in right I pulled it back out and there was more on it! I can't imagine what this stuff is. I've never had a yeast infection, and that's the only thing I can think it is, but it doesn't smell bad and does not itch. the discharge is also a white color, which is what my discharge has always looked like, but i have never had discharge of such epic proportions! LOL.

So, should I be worried or is this normal?

Is it possible that that's your normal discharge and you're only really noticing it now because you're playing with the nuvaring? I know I had no idea what my discharge was like before I got my IUD and started sticking fingers up there to check my strings at all times of my cycle, haha. It might be that your ring is just pulling more out than you're used to seeing in one place.

I should probably add that if you're not having any other(bad) symptoms then it's most likely nothing to worry about. If it starts itching or something then I'd go to the doc. Good luck! :)

I always have thick white mucousy stuff attached to my nuva ring when i take it out. i'm pretty sure it's normal and it only stays inside on me. only worry if you start noticing a change in smell or actual discharge that comes out onto your panties, or as another poster said, if it starts itching then see a doc.

I use the ring periodically (I'm in a LDR and prefer to use as little medication as possible, so I don't use it when we're apart), and I get tons of discharge. Usually it's runny once it gets to the outside, but sometimes it's creamy. I notice it coating the ring when I have to take it out, and when it's on the ring it's creamy.

I had a ton of discharge when I was on the ring. My doctor said it's normal.

One of the side effects of NuvaRing is leukorrhea -- increase in white discharge. Unless you're experiencing itching or burning along with it, I wouldn't worry about it.
