I have a very old doctor who told me that when he was in school UTIs were to be treated with anti-biotics for no less than 21 days to fully wipe the infection out of your system. There are stronger anti-biotics that work in fewer doses (like a 3 pill z-pak) and doctors prescribe them more. My doctor doesn't prescribe anti-biotics for 21 days, but never less than 2 pills a day for 10 days (sometimes 14). That's my longwinded way of saying that you probably do only need a longer course of treatment. ;)
