Really, it's up to you. Starting it on Friday (closer to your period) or so may increase the chances of maintaining a regular cycle for this first month, but even still you may experience breakthrough bleeding or a wonky period your first month or two on NuvaRing... that's always a possibility when starting or changing HBC.
Of course, if you're traditionally a Sunday starter (as in, you took your last active Ovcon pill yesterday), then you should be fine starting the ring on Sunday too.
But yes, either way you may experience irregular bleeding this first month or two. If so, don't sweat it... that's normal.
Also, make sure to check your instruction package on whether or not you need to use back-up protection when switching methods. Some types of HBC advise using back-up protection when switching to a new method, others do not.
