Hello,
I'm 30 years old and on hormonal birth control (Nuvaring) for the first time ever.
Nine days ago it was the first day of my period, so I inserted the ring. I noticed that the ring was making my period really light (it looked like day 3 rather than super-heavy day 1) and I thought "Ok, I guess it's going to need a few days to end because I had a real ovulation and there's a lot of stuff in my uterus" but, damn, after nine days I'm a bit worried because it doesn't seem to stop or even slightly lessen (yesterday it looked like I was entering the brown flow stage, today it's red again).
Is it normal? Should I call my doctor?

Thank you!

Hi there. I am 31 years old and I have been having pretty severe PMDD for the past year, which I have managed solely with anti-depressants up to now. I was on hormonal birth control between the ages of 18 and 28, so I don't have a great understanding of what a "normal" period is like for me since I was regulating it for so long. The pill worked wonders for me during the time that I used it, and since going off I've been having all sorts of craziness down there. In addition, I got pregnant about a year and a half ago and had a miscarriage, so I am not sure if that is also playing a part in this.

My period these days looks sort of like this: I have a week of incredible moodiness/irritability/cramping during which I hate everyone in the world and just want to run away to a cave or an old-fashioned menstrual hut and wait for the Moon Madness to subside, followed by half a day of very light bleeding, followed by a day of no bleeding, followed by a day of BLEEDING ALL THE BLOOD THAT HAS EVER BEEN BLED, and then another day of whatever blood is leftover. I feel like this is a very stressful thing to have to experience every month.

I'm going to visit my gynecologist soon to discuss all of this and see about getting back on birth control, so I'm not really looking for answers here. I just wanted to share what I've been going through and find out if any of you have had similar experiences. Commiseration and such. I hope you all have a lovely day and I thank you for your time.

I've always had long, very heavy periods, and I'm anemic largely in part of this. This is my second day, and I'm glad I didn't have to do anything because I've been getting up every hour (sometimes less) to hour and a half to empty my cup. I'm exhausted.

Has anyone here had Novasure and if so did your bleeding stop?
