Dear VPers

I'm asking on behalf of a friend of mine - but what options are there for buying affordable pregnancy tests in Canada. We're both in Toronto, but I'm presuming that availability in any large Canadian city would be pretty much the same.

I went onto peeonastick.com because it's mentioned so often but - due to my mostly blind state - I got confused. I know what's mentioned a lot for the U.S. (Dollar Tree stores), but are there similar brands/chain stores in Canada? Online sites???

I hope I can get some good resources to pass on to my friend.
Thanks!

I've recently started taking a multi-vitamin, and I am considering getting B12 shots. The one question I have is will this have any affect on my BC? The multi vitamin is a general vitamin its the brand one-a-day.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi everyone, it's my first time posting to this community and this is my last resort.

Day One of my period falls on my wedding day: April 16th (less than two months). I track my cycle through Femilia and it is always regular. I don't use HBC, or any other birth control.

My question is this: Is it possible to delay my period at all? Even by just a day? Or in the alternative, can I make it come a week early?

I spoke to my doctor last week who simply said: "you should have come to me 6 months ago, because it is too late to start you on HBC" and offered nothing further. I googled natural methods of making your period arrive early, and came up with parsley water (boiled water over parsley). Tried it last cycle and not only does it taste like boiled socks, but it didn't help at all. Period arrived right on sched.

Does anyone know of ANYTHING at all that could help me rush/delay my period? Would the morning after pill force my period? And if so, when would I have to take it?

This is a two parter.....first, my doctor was looking over my chart a few weeks ago and asked if I have PCOS.  I said no as no doctor has ever mentioned it before.  He said the fact that I am a bit overweight (ugh, I had lost weight last year and it crept back) and the fact that I have hypothyroid made him suspect it.  He took some blood and it came back that I have elevated insulin levels which I guess strengthed his suspicions.  I am going this weekend for a trans vaginal ultrasound which I guess will make the final diagnosis, and I am pretty sure I have it since I recall in the past that ultrasounds have revealed cysts (though they weren't looking for that at the time).

I've done some reading on it and asked him some questions, but hearing from people that have it would be helpful.  What has been your experience?  From what I read it said while some women experience certain symptoms and others don't, ALL women with PCOS have irregular periods.  I have had irregular ones, but last year when I had lost 50 pounds my period was like clockwork, to the exact day.  Also, I've always thought women with PCOS had a hard time losing weight.  When I stick to eating right and exercising I lost weight fairly consistently, it's just that I've been lazy and eating bad recently.  One last question.....my husband and I want to start trying for a baby in April, how much more difficult does PCOS make getting pregnant?  Why exactly does it make it hard?

Second question....I've been to a male doctor before, in fact my regular gyno is male, but he's older so I feel totally comfortable going to him but I try not to since my co-pay with him is twice as much as my family doctor.  For years I've been seeing my female family doctor for pap's, and I like her and all but sometimes she seems to gloss over things.  I saw another doctor while she was on maternity for unrelated reasons (the doc that suspects the PCOS) and I really like him.  He is very thorough and I feel like he catches things that she might not.  The problem, he's younger and kinda cute so I am a little bit embarrassed to go to him for my pap.  Ridiculous right?  I should go to the doctor that will help me the best, I know this.  But I'm always soooo nervous going to the gyno anyway so I can only imagine how nervous I'll be seeing him.  Anyone else go to an attractive male doctor for gyno issues?

Hiya!

I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster, and one of my friends has some unexplained sores.

About a month ago, she had 3 small ones on her face, between her bottom lip and her chin. They lasted a week or two, and she said they looked like they were spreading a bit, so she cleaned them/applied Polysporin, and they healed.

Yesterday we were hanging out, and she said she had similar ones, but this time they were under her armpit. I took a pic and told her I'd ask on here.
More under the cut... )
