(Not entirely sure if this question belongs here; if not, please feel free to delete it, thanks).

So recently I've become really interested in the possibility of donating my eggs. I've been doing a lot of research online about the process, and doing some soul searching about how I'd feel about many of the moral implications that come up. I think it's a really great thing to be able to do, to not only be able to help a couple or woman who really wants to have a child, and at the same time get monetarily compensated for it (I won't lie and say that my motives are 100% altruistic -- I'm in a bit of a financial bind these days). The one thing I haven't been able to find out for sure though is what happens to unused eggs. A lot of different sites seem to say a lot of different things. Most agree that once your eggs have been donated, you no longer have any say in what happens to them. I have a slight problem with this because I personally don't want my fertilized eggs going to stem-cell research, or to be outright destroyed. I understand the reasons behind it (more eggs than may be needed are fertilized to increase the chances of IV pregnancy), but I'm not comfortable with it. Is there anyway to find out if there are agencies that either don't allow those two options, or have alternative options, or at least allow you to decide what becomes of unused eggs? Or suggestions about how I could find this information out? (And personal testimonies would be great too! :D). Thanks in advance, vagpag.♥

I posted here about some scarring (that has since gone away). My doctor told me that my blood results for herpes (both types) were negative! It's been almost 16 weeks since my last encounter, so these results are "definitive".

I'm still waiting on the culture from my university, but can I assume that will be negative as well, considering most people develop antibodies by now? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks!

BC question!

So I was totally forgetful this week and just realized that this month's BC ends on Friday and Saturday would be my first day of the new pack. However, I forgot to pick up the new pack from the pharmacist's.

This is a problem because I'm leaving town Friday to Tuesday.

Will missing 3 days of BC screw my body up? I'm not having sex during those 3 days so I'm not worried about any pregnancy-related things, I'm mostly concerned about other physical effects that this might have. I will start my new pack on Tuesday. And when I start the new pack, should I start from the first day as usual or the 3rd day?

Thank you.

itchy itch

So I don't know what's goin on in my pants but it's starting to drive me nuts.
Last month the skin around my outer labia started to kind of peel, turned red and cracked (just a little in two places, almost like a cut).
I was also reeeaallly itchy but I couldn't do anything because the skin was pretty sore.
I thought it was from shaving and the cold weather so I took a break and used Vaseline/monistat itch relief cream. I was fine, everything cleared up for a little bit but now it's starting again!

I also noticed that my discharge is a little different too. This might be tmi but I think it's kind of the norm for this community!
Before my discharge was clear/white/liquid and the thickness changed depending on the week, nothing out of the ordinary for me.
Past couple months I've noticed that in the morning the inner labia has stuff that kind of looks like a yeast infection (typical description of cottage cheese) but it's only in the morning and it's fine after I shower. I guess I've noticed a few times if a certain lube or condom is used. So strange!

I don't know if if it's some kind of infection, allergic reaction or just a change in my body.

Reason why I put infection is because I have a new boyfriend and we haven't used condoms everytime but I have no idea what this is.

Maybe I'm just over analyzing and it's just the weather but I thought I would ask.

Hello everyone!

I'm in need of some advice. Posted on here before under another username, but then decided to make a separate account for all my "community" posts.

Recap: I've never had regular menses. They came on early (age 10/11?) but within a few years began to be eratic....once every two months, twice a month, etc. At age 16 they started thinning out even more - I would often not get a period for several months. At age 18 I started running, and they disappeared completely until age 21. At that point I went on Yasmin HBC because my doctor was worried about bone density. Fast forward 2 years, I'm married, and we decided we definitely don't want any kids for a long time. Between that and decreased sex drive on HBC, we decided to go for a Paragard IUD. I assumed that I would go back to having no periods, which I didn't mind as long as my bone density was ok.

It's been 6 months since the insertion. I had the normal post-insertion bleeding, but then it has continued almost continuously since then. A few times I had a "break" for about 5-7 days but mostly it's been steady, light-medium bleeding. My primary care doctor tried a progesterone course, which did give me a stronger withdrawl bleed, but after a couple of weeks I started bleeding sporadically again. I also did not tolerate the progesterone well, so I can't take it again.

I've been checked for pregnancy, UTI, BV, anemia etc - all negative, and I had an ultrasound showing my endometrium is of normal thickness, the IUD is in ideal placement, and there are no structural problems with my uterus....however, it did show my left ovary being 4.1cmx4.7cmx2.9cm and filled with a number of small follicles.

So it would seem the likely diagnosis is polycystic ovary syndrome . Tomorrow I'm going to see the OBGYN - what should I ask? I love how I feel with the IUD except for the prolonged bleeding. Do you think there's anything I could ask for that would help regulate me so that I could keep the Paragard without long term HBC? Fertility is not a concern.

Thanks!

Acne woes

 Hello all,

So I've never had the greatest skin. When I was fourteen or so, I took an antibiotic for my skin, used prescription topicals and my acne eventually cleared up. For the next few years it fluctuated a little, but for the most part it was reduced to the occasional bad breakout, but mostly just a spot here and there. Anyway, finally when my acne seemed to clear up for a while, it got really bad. Worse than it's ever been. This started around August, and it took me by surprise since I haven't had too many problems with my skin and I'm now 18 and thought I was over the acne phase. I've been using proactiv for a few months and just started my third month of apri (generic desogen), which has seemed to finally start clearing up my skin. The problem is, though it's not as bad as it was, I still have a lot of acne and I feel really self conscious about it.

So my question is, does anyone have suggestions for products to reduce my acne and scarring? Even though my skin is starting to clear up, it's pretty damaged from the really bad phase and I'm still not clear from breakouts. Unfortunately, a dermatologist isn't really an option right now, so drug store products or other fairly inexpensive stuff would be helpful. I'm looking for something that isn't just for the occasional break out, but rather for moderate-severe acne. Also if anyone has had experience with apri or another hbc that really helped their skin, I'd really love to hear about it. I've been using benzoyl peroxide 10% along with proactiv for a few months now, and I'm still breaking out consistently. I tried going on Yaz a few years ago, but had a really rough time with the side effects and it didn't really seem to help my skin at all. Any advice would be really appreciated. Sorry for the long post, I'm just getting really tired of feeling bad about my skin and the lack of improvement.
