Ok, I've checked the vulvapedia about HBC and read about it but I want to have a confirmation of knowledge here. I went to the health dept. last Weds, to get some birth control. I have NEVER used bc in my life, either. The doctor gave me Ortho-Tri-cylen and put me on a Sunday start, since my period just ended the week before last. So that means, I wont be starting my bc until later on this month (around the 20th or so). It totally slipped my mind to ask about the sex portion benefit of the pills. I had so much on my mind that day, it was the last thing I even thought about asking.

So, am I understanding correctly....I am protected against pregnancy as long as I have taken the pills for the first 21 days? I just wanted to see if that's correct because I've had people tell me that you should wait at least a month or 2 after starting the pill before having unprotected sex, but they were on Ortho-Tri-cyclen LO. So if that's the case, if I were to have sex say the beginning or the middle of June, and I've taken ALL my pills correctly (at the same time everyday) I would be perfectly fine against pregnancy, right? I would assume since I'm getting a higher dosage of hormones, but I just wanted to be certain.

Thanks in advance! :)

First time poster, but long time reader!
I'm not sure if anyone will have a helpful response, but I'll try anyway :)

I haven't had my period since December. I took a blood pregnancy test and it came back negative. I had an ultrasound done, and all the tests for all my organs as well, and everything came back normal. I also had a blood test done on everything else, like hormones and thyroid ...etc and EVERYTHING came back normal. My doctor has no idea what to do about this, and doesn't know what's wrong. I have ALWAYS been super regular, but from the day I first got it to December, I went from having a really heavy period lasting 5 days to a really light period with extreme cramps for three days (if that means something in any way). Now, my left foot is swelling up at night. I haven't been stressed out lately or anything.
I don't know what else to do!

(p.s. My doctor did want me to go on bc, but I have REALLY big boobs already that  really, really hurt me and I don't want them to get any bigger. I'm nervous to go on it. It's not one of my options right now :( )

My period was over about a week and a half ago. I started bleeding again lightly on the 3rd of April. Now I'm bleeding even more and it's bright bright red blood. Is this normal? It's freaking me out.

I'm sorry if this isn't an appropriate post--mods, feel free to delete. I'm cross-posting this to several different communities in order to get an answer as quickly as possible.

A friend of mine recently found out she is pregnant, and is exploring her options. I'm very worried that the information she has been given regarding termination has been biased with an agenda aiming to dissuade her from the process.

I'm looking for the most un-biased and truthful information I can give her. I only want to help her make her own decision. Please, any sources you can provide would be very appreciated.

ETA: In my hurry to get this posted, I didn't explore the information already available in this community. If the mods decide this post is clutter, feel free to delete it.

Scabies?

I've recently discovered that I have scabies. Does anyone know if Planned Parenthood treats for this or anyone natural ways to treat it. I don't have health insurance and though I got someone to write me the prescription for it, I don't necessarily want to pay for it the medicine. I could go either way. Whatever is easier, cheaper, more effective. Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I know there are folks here who have this. Plus, I know there are VPers whose Google-Fu exceeds my own:

When people are diagnosed with endometriosis in their lungs (I know it's rare, yes), exactly how is the diagnosis made? Which procedures are used, and how reliable are they?

Thanks!

Cue a slightly embarrassing question.

I've noticed after the last several (20 - 30) times I've masturbated or had sex that, maybe a couple of minutes after orgasm, I need to use the bathroom. This is not because I need to urinate -- I can absolutely feel the fluid coming from my vagina, and not my urethra. Also, it is always clear, never urine-colored, nor does it have any odor to it at all. And the feeling of needing to use the bathroom is not the same as it is when I need to pee.

At first I was thinking this may be female ejaculation, but then I realized it never happens with my orgasm. Always a minute or two after. Also, 100% of my orgasms happen from clitoral stimulation, not g-spot or penetration or anything like that (though I'm sure you can still ejaculate from clitoral orgasms...). Am I maybe just expelling left over wetness (I get very wet)?

I guess I'm just looking for opinions. Do you think this is female ejaculation? Or something else (if this, what?)? Should I see a doctor or something?

just went to change my DivaCup. first day of my period. very little blood, but...there was a big white clump of something. pure white. it felt kind of like paste between my fingers, was about the size of a small kidney bean or something. it did not smell, and i'm not itchy. please tell me there's an easy explanation for this, and i don't have a yeastie or something strange?

sorry for the curtness of this, i've gotta run to work!

thanks ladies.

hi everyone!

so i am on microgestin and have been for about 3 years. i have been stacking my pills for over 6 months with NO -- absolutely none -- breakthrough bleeding. about a week and a half ago, i started spotting. it ranged from brown/old blood to bright red blood and the flow is not as heavy as a regular period. since i normally always skip my placebos and go straight to the next set of active pills, that's what i did, and i'm still spotting. what should i do? i'm afraid i screwed myself over and confused my body so the spotting will never stop!

hello! so i switched from seasonique to levora, and since then, have had a chronic and resistant to all meds yeast infection. i will be changing the pill this friday at my gyno appt. but i was wondering, why would this change happen? both of them had the same amt of hormones. i'm confused!
also, i start my placebos on saturdays and usually get spotting on wednesday but during saturday night i got a light brown discharge, and has since gone away almost completely. is that okay? i was just surprised at how early. but now, like i said, it's gone. so here i am going WAHWAHWAH IMPLANTATION BLEEDING, but my boyfriend is unable to cum in/around me, so it's almost impossible.
help? thank you <3

So, I decided to start BC about a month ago and got myself on the Nuvaring. So far so well, I've been experiencing extreme spotting the whole 3 weeks I had it in and a nine day long period that came early (I've put the ring in on the first day of my period last month and kind of never stopped bleeding). Yesterday I put the new ring in after the one-week-break and was relieved to find that there was almost no blood when I changed my tampon today in the morning. However, after sex with my boyfriend, I started to bleed again. Not much, but enough to annoy the hell out of me. And I'm sure it's Nuvaring-related and not about my boyfriend ripping something. It's really no surprise, since he's bumping my cervix every time we have sex, but I'm stressed about it nonetheless
I know that it takes the body a while to adjust and since it's my first go with hormonal birth control altogether, I was sort of prepared, but really, when will I finally stop bleeding? On the good side, however, I had fewer cramps this cycle, which is very good (because I decided to go on the ring to help me deal with my PMS better, apart from the condom-less sex).
Also, I do have lots of mood-swings because of the ring. I don't know why, but since my boyfriend and I fight a lot, I thought I would try not to take my anger out on him, he didn't do anything to deserve that. Apparently, I did such a good job, he didn't even notice those freaking moods. The reason why we are/were fighting so much was probably because he thought I was trying to irritate him by being unreasonable from time to time. This would make him so angry that a fight would be inevitable. And the reason why it would make him explode is probably because we are seeing each other about every day, so a little space will do us good.

I'm sorry for the last part as it's vagina-unrelated, I guess I just needed a place to vent... If it's inappropriate, mods, please feel free to delete the post.
