Hello, VP.

I'm thinking about getting a brazilian wax for the first time. I've found two waxers here in my hometown that have over a hundred reviews and five stars on yelp.com, so I'll go to one of them.

So here are my questions about brazilian waxing, in no particular order:

1) Are you less likely to get ingrown hairs if you wax? I always seem to get ingrown hairs when I shave.

2) I'm pretty au natural down there. Should I trim before I go? I have one of those Schick Quattro Trim Style things, so I can buzz my bush down pretty quickly.

3) Is there anything I can do about the pain? Cosmo says to maybe get a martini somewhere before I go, but...you know...it's Cosmo. A lot of stuff in Cosmo makes me roll my eyes pretty hard. Should I take a handful of Advil or something? My dad has a ton of vicoden from a surgery he had a year ago, maybe I should take one of those?

4) How soon after I get a wax can I have sex? My boyfriend and I are in an LDR and he's visiting on Wednesday, and I'm thinking of getting it done on Sunday.

5) Can you, like, walk after a wax? I'll probably have to take the bus home after. Should I get a friend to come pick me up instead?

6) Aaannnd...I'm basically doing this because my boyfriend thinks it's really sexy. I figure it's the least I can do, since he's always doing stuff for me in the bedroom that doesn't do anything for him (lots of dominance, getting tied up, etc.) and this is the only thing he's asked me to do for him in the bedroom during the last four years of our relationship (seriously. He never asks for ANYTHING, which honestly drives me a little nuts). The thing is, I'm kind of super hardcore broke, so do you think it would be unreasonable if I asked him to help pay for it?

7) Any other tips or suggestions?

Thanks, everyone!

I recently was prescribed HBC and was intending to start on the first day of my period, which I thought was yesterday, so I took the first pill. However, today my period has been MIA. Is this normal? Or was I supposed to continue getting it and I was just spotting when I thought I started my period? I've been having major issues with spotting/super short cycles/cysts which is why I've been prescribed HBC in the first place, so even though I was supposed to get my period around now, it's very possible that it was just heavyish spotting. I definitely won't complain if I don't get my period, I just wanted to make sure everything was okay!

Thanks!

I've been having UTIs for years. About 15 years now, when I do the math out. Jeez.

The long, epic story of how my endocrine system hates me. )

So yeah. If anyone has any ideas or theories, I'd greatly appreciate it.

ETA: My previous kidney infection I was put on Cefpodoxime/Vantin and I did test clear after two weeks. I don't remember what they put me on for the UTI before that but I also tested clear after two weeks of antibiotics for that. This time it's Cefpodoxime/Vantin again.

In October I had an emergency Laproscopy. They thought I had appendicitis and pretty much went in to remove it, then discovered it was fine, and couldn't find out what was wrong.
So they had no explanation for the crippling pain in my appendix area that landed me in A&E and hospital.

Anyway, that aside.... I am STILL getting pain under my belly button scar.
It's scarred up properly (for once!). The other two wound scars are spreading out and look like they'll turn into the nasty thin scars that I get because of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
The healing process took a LOT longer than normal because of my EDS, but the belly button wound actually scarred properly.
The bottom of my belly button is really hard and tight, I'm guessing it's all scar tissue. And I still get pains in the belly button and down to about 2 inches below it.

Is this normal this long after it? Or should I see my doctor?
I'm not going to be able to see him for at least another week and a bit as I can only go whern it's my boyfriend's day off work to take me, and next week's day off we're going to the hospital for a really important appt, and I have no idea how long I'll be there, so I can't go to the doctor.

Any advice?

Could it just be my bladder? I have had a slightly high white count the last few weeks, so I might have an infection and not be noticing it... though I get waterworks infections a lot, and I'm not feeling any of the symptoms.

Hey everyone! This is posted on behalf of my friend who doesn't have an LJ account.

She developed small blisters from her pad chaffing her legs yesterday...it sounds incredibly painful. Can you suggest anything she can put on the blisters (in a pretty sensitive area!) to ease the pain and heal them?

Thanks!

Hi lovely superstars!

Has anyone here tried the (I believe it's Monistat brand) tester kit that tells you whether you've got a yeast infection or something else? Was it a good product? Because I've got some discharge and odor going on, and although there's no itching, burning, pain or anything like that, I know something is off. I inserted acidophilus capsules and that seemed to help, but it's been a couple weeks and now it's back (which makes me think yeast, but there's no itching or rash, which makes me think possibly BV.) I know I should likely get a doctor's opinion, but with the snowpocalypse outside that will be a while. I was thinking of buying the Monistat tester to see what it had to say, but wanted opinions before I dish out the cash.

(Another question- does age play a factor in the development of these problems? I never have had any problems with yeast infections or anything, and I've done enough things in my uneducated youth that would probably cause massive YIs in most, so I assumed I was not very susceptible to them. Can that change with age? Just a random question.)

Tips, thoughts, opinions? Thank you all!

Hello,

Today I got a fibroadenoma removed, and after scourging this website for information before my surgery, I figured I would share my experience of the procedure.

Hey, new here~  18 year old, got a question to (hopefully) calm my nerves a bit!

So, a few nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night from a dream and realised that I had some stabby stabby pains in the general area of my lady parts, to the left.  It wasn't horrible pain, I've woken up and started crying from cramps before, and this was nowhere near that bad!  I figured it would go away, ya?

Well, I'm still getting mild stabby pains, sometimes just a dull ache, in the same area.  Not ibuprofen worthy, just enough to worry me haha.  Another thing I've noticed since them is that I am peeing like CRAZY.  I've lost track how many times I've absolutely HAD to get up to go pee, because it felt like my bladder was ready to burst!  It's not like I'm drinking a lot of extra liquids...

I was reading online and it sounded similar to an ovarian cyst, so I'm wondering what your experiences with them are?  Should I tell my mom and try to go to a doctor, or what?  And if so... would there be any blood tests/needles?  I've got some, ah, anxieties with needles, but if it's important I can attempt to work through it. ^^;

Thanks~

EDIT: I went to the doctor today and they don't think it's a UTI, but possibly a cyst of some sort... If it gets worse they want me to go back for an ultrasound.

I know this isn't vagina-related, but you all are very knowledgeable. The skin under my breasts (mainly the the left one) is peeling and hurts a lot. I haven't put any different things on it or used new soap or anything. Even though It's right where my underwire sits, I don't think it's from my bra. I'm trying to put a picture inside, so please bear with me if I fail. I'm kind of livejournal illiterate. :)

The red parts aren't the only parts that are peeling and hurt, there's more that you can't really see, but those are the most painful parts.
I'm in college so it's really difficult for me to get to the dermatologist, so if I could avoid it, that would be great.

Thanks, everyone!
