So I started Yaz 6 months ago.
It has been great, and before then I was on Yasmin but started spotting.
The past 2 months I've been feeling depressed? I am a really happy person but I feel so imbalanced lately. As my mother said on the phone, "lately it seems like you're sort of losing your shit...you seem sort of off. Are you on HBC?"
Am I just crazy, or can Yaz have these side effects, and after so many months?

EDIT: I just was googling, and apparently it can...the last 6 months make so much sense now. I want to stop taking it right now! Eep! Here's an interesting lead.

Hey all -- I had posted a couple weeks back:
http://community.livejournal.com/vaginapagina/15417924.html

I've been diagnosed with vestibulodynia. I've been prescriped 2 topical medications - xylocaine 5% and amitriptyline 2% baclofen 2%. My doctor suggested I use the xylocaine every night and the amitriptyline cream twice daily.

Thing is.. I'm pretty sure these are causing YI's. If anyone has ever been on these meds before, is this a common side effect? Or perhaps just coincidence. However, since I'm looking at having to use these meds for several months, I'd really love to NOT have a YI for the entire time!

TIA!

Ok so I am on tricyclin HBC(for atleast 3 years now), and i know that my period is just withdrawl bleeding and all that, but what about ovulation? what is going on for that?

Iv read that your discharge tends to get thicker, or a different consistency when youre ovulating, and usually for me about 2 weeks (or a bit longer) after my 'period' i notice a change in my natural discharge, i have more and it is noticibly thicker

So what exactly is going on?
Is that to be expected while on the pill?

I usually get really bad PMS, but I can't tell if my PMS is worsening or I just have the stomach flu.  I have never felt like this during PMS, I get moody, panicky, some cramps, but this month. I'm moody, panicky, cramps, body aches and this morning I really thought I was going to throw up along with yesterday. I have this horrible headache that feels like someone threw a rock at my head. It's driving me nuts. I can't tell if I have PMS or I'm getting the stomach flu, b/c it is going around and I work in retail. Does midol or pamprin help for nausea too is there anyway to figure out which one I have.

Okay, here is my issue. I just had my off hormone week. I put my patch on last Friday 2/20. I had sex without a condom yesterday 2/23. I can't stand my birth control and its side effects anymore. I need to go off it ASAP. If I took my patch off today, for example, would the sex i had yesterday matter? I don't want to come off of my birth control and somehow get pregnant from yesterday. How soon can I come off of this?

I hope this isn't confusing. Does my question make sense?

Hi all,  this is my first official post to the community.  I found you helpful people through the menstrual_cups group and have been lurking here for awhile, commenting, but having nothing to actually post about...until now.

For maybe about 2-3 months my vagina has been (on and off) incredibly itchy.  There's no smell, no discharge, or anything else out of the ordinary...just itchy.  It seems to me that it's concentrated on the labia, anyway it's all external.  The other thing is that everything seems kind of dry...but unless I'm aroused, that's pretty normal for me (and part of the reason why I finally ordered a menstrual cup this week!  YAY!).

Anyway...does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening or what might work to help solve it?

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone. I want to share my story, maybe you all have some tips for me. Ever since moving to Florida for school in late August, I have been having HUGE problems with my tonsils. I basically have been on every kind of antibiotic since August and after every single run I get a yeast infection. I've been to 4 doctors down here and no one can fit me in for surgery, and I don't want to wait until May when I'm back home to get surgery...so I'm still hunting for docs down here. I'm SO TIRED of the yeast infections. I'm eating tons of yogurt and taking acidophilus. Does anyone have any tips to help prevent the yeast infections, or at least lessen their symptoms? I'm going insane. It's not such an issue with discharge..but the internal itching and soreness is becoming unbearable month after month of antibiotics. Thank you for any future responses. :)

Hello all,
I'm hoping to get a little input on dealing with PMS symptoms.  My symptoms are really irregular - I might or might not bloat, crave fatty foods, be incredibly cranky, cramp, or be exhausted.  I think they start up to two weeks before I start bleeding, but it's hard to tell because my periods are very irregular as well, anywhere from 28-60ish days.  What does seems to be consistent is that I am a lot more depressed and anxious when PMS-ing, and it tends to last through my period.  Does anyone else deal with this?  Would it be worth trying to get birth control to regulate my periods so I can at least have a plan of attack for the emotional disaster that comes with them?  I'm not on anxiety/depression meds, and once my period ends I usually feel a lot better for a couple weeks.
TIA for any advice!

Hi, It's me again!

I was just wondering, for all you girls on Yaz (yay!) and without insurance that covers it (boo) where do you buy it from and how much does it cost you? Thanks!

Hi ladies!

I have a lovely Human Sexuality professor, and today we discussed the morning after pill.  A question was asked about whether taking a couple of birth control pills at a time was the same as using Plan B.  My prof stated that yes, you can do this.  She recommended looking up the dosage of progestin in the morning after pill, and then figuring out how many of your birth control pills (progestin only OR combo pills) you need to take to match this dosage.  You take one dose, and then take another 12 hours later.  One student said that her doctor had confirmed that this is okay to do.  $10 for BC vs. $45 for Plan B.

Just thought you guys might be interested in this info :)

So I have been vegan for about two years, and I'm 23.  The past six months or so, I have been having some problems during PMS.  When I first got my period, I basically didn't have PMS, and then I gradually started developing it the past four or so years.  But now, at the start of my PMS (PMS seems to last about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks now) I feel like I'm getting a bladder infection, and then right before my period starts (and lasting for a little over a week), I feel like I'm getting a yeast infection on the outside (which I have gotten before, typically from antibiotics).  I don't know if this has anything to do with my being vegan and not getting enough of certain kinds of nutrients such folate or iron or whatever, so I thought I would ask and see if any of you have had similar PMS troubles.  Being from Utah, my menstruation education was not all that fantastic.

Thanks!

I know I was around the other day asking about Depo, but someone suggested I look into IUDs, so here I am again, full of new questions!

I'm going to Planned Parenthood Friday to see about getting some sort of BC. I'm not all that great at remembering things, so I was looking into BC options that don't require a daily pill - the less I have to think about my BC, the better. Also my BF isn't big on condoms, so if possible we'd like to combine BC with withdrawl. I'm thinking Mirena because I heard it's used to lessen/control periods, and that sounds really good to me. I'm not currently planning to have children at all, and if I changed my mind it wouldn't be any time soon. My boyfriend is very against the patch for whatever reason, but he's all for whatever else I decide to do. Well actually I haven't mentioned I'm thinking about an IUD; I don't know if he knows what those are or what he thinks about them, honestly.

I'm in college and have very low income - about how much would an IUD cost through PPH? I'm not sure if my insurance covers IUDs; the online account I have is of NO help figuring this out, so I'll have to call them tomorrow. I'm having some financial problems, so cost is a VERY big deciding factor for me.

I'm wary about something being "inserted;" what's the procedure like (like step-by-step)? Is it painful? Can you feel the IUD once it's in? Would my boyfriend be able to feel it? What's the chance that it'll come out? (I've never had a child - I've read it's more common for IUDs to slip in women who haven't had a child?) After it's inserted, now quickly is it effective?

I live in the UK, I'm 19 years old (20 soon), never been sexually active but I'd like to get the HPV vaccine, before a time when I might be. I know there was a government initiative to get under 18s the vaccine, but I was too late for that. How could I go about getting it? My GP wasn't much help and I don't see a gynaecologist.

Exactly 7 days ago I lost my virginity to my boy, which I have no regrets about whatsoever, I'm also aware of the false pretense "you cannot get pregnant the first time you have sex", this is entirely untrue. Anyway, we were in the heat of the moment and he forgot to put a condom on. Now, he'd been rubbing on me and what have you (out of my vagina first, but near and "on" it) and we were both very wet. He was inside me for not even 10 seconds before I flipped out and realized "OH CRAP! HEY, WE NEED A CONDOM! STAT!" boy pulls out no questions asked, puts a condom on and proceeds to finish safely inside said condom far away from me. I had just finished up my period the day before we decided it was right for us to have sex. What is my risk of pregnancy from this isolated incident? I'm just a super-worrier and would love someone to put my mind at ease.

Thank you so much, everyone!

owwwie!

So this is mostly a post to complain and hopefully realize I'm not alone.  But we'll see.

So today I was masturbating and enjoying myself and all.  And after I finished my left nipple really hurt, and couldn't figure out why.   So i get out of the shower and apparently in my lustfull thoughts I tweaked my nipple a little hard or something, and like the skin tore a little bit. Thats the best way I know how to explain it.  Has anyone else done this, cause right now....I feel pretty stupid.

I know that it just needs to heal, which will probably just take a few days.
