aaaah! my vagina has been bleeding since tuesday and i just want it to stop :( the thing is, i'm not supposed to have my next period until october 14. 2.5 weeks ago i started birth control. on monday night i tried to have sex for the first time; it was just painful and unsuccessful, he didn't even completely penetrate me when i made him stop. on tuesday i started bleeding and occasionally spotting gross brown stuff. thursday i saw my gyno and he told me it was probably just a side effect of the birth control. how many days until i should be worried? i'm so tired of my vagina bleeding and wish it would stop :(

Ummm. Chest hair. Ew.

Okay, so I've noticed that I'm growing hair on my chest. Not like, those annoying black hairs, but i'm talking about some darker then normal hair in my cleavage area.
I've also been having some stabbing pain in the moose and antler region (as my boyfriend lovingly calls them). I never cramp, and I'm on Yaz. Any reason why I'm turning into an even hairier beast? Hahah. <3

Hi all   :)

I know there is a post with gyno's for certain areas in the memories, but last time I looked at it I didn't see any for my area so I figured I try...

Anyone have a good (or great!) gyno in the Boston area? I'm not too worried about insurance since my new insurance seems to cover a lot of doctors (Tufts), but I don't have a car, so something T (Green line) or bus accessible would be awesome. Specifically, I'm in the BU/Allston area, but I'd be willing to travel.

And if you absolutely love your healthcare people, I'd be down for hearing suggestions for regular PCPs too.

Thanks!! <3

The recent (and totally awesome!) pictures of ovulation got me curious about what ACTUAL fallopian tubes look like since I've always seen the illustrations, but never really seen what the really look like. Found some partial pictures and read some stuff on vulvapedia, but didn't really find exactly what I was looking for. Furhtermore it brought up a bunch of questions about fallopain tubes that have always lingered somewhere in the back of my mind but that I've never gotten suficiently explained to me. It wound up getting me worked up into such a tizzy that I decided to come here with a barrage of questions, haha! So here we go. Hopefully someone else has wondered about these issues even if it was only in the back of your mind to and will find some answers as well.

Ok, so whenever we see illustrations of the female internal anatomy you see your fallopian tubes coming down off the uterus like they're going to hug something with a many fingered hand or something. Now in all the pictures clearly the ovary is not attached in any way to the fallopian tubes. I just checked to make sure this was an accurate illustration and not just some way to seperate the two to better understand them and lo and behold, this is an accurate depiction. My questions are though: why in the heck aren't the two attached? Why does the space between the ovary and the fallopian tubes exist? What's in the space between? Some kind of fluid? blood? a black hole leading to an alternate universe where men are the ones that have to suffer through periods? What gives? And I also read that the fallopian tubes are 4 inches long (!!!) which I did not know. But that begs the question, if they aren't tied down to anything on the 'receiving' end then how to they 'stay in place' like the happy illustrations and not get all tangled around your other innerds? And then THAT begged the question - then just what in the world are the ovaries attached to??? Where are THEY anchored down? If they're not anchored down, well then do they just float around making the rounds in your body and hanging out with your cerebral cortex when they're both on a coffee break?

So that's my barrage of questions. I started to realize that for being so body concious, inquistive in general and having a personality that justs wants to KNOW KNOW KNOW everything I can possibly can about every subject that I am really woefully clueless about this vital part of my anatomy and its workings! Crazy how I got to be 25 and despite always having those questions pop into my head I never really investigated them.

So help me, VP, to yet again learn something awesome about my body!

Ok I've done alot of reading on Cervical Mucus and when your ment to be ovulating, now I know that HBC (I take Logynon ED) is a replacement, but why am I having (second month in a row) cervical mucus like I'd be ovulating...

Is it normal? I know it sounds silly to ask but I just was wondering should I be going to the doctor and change my HBC?

Edited, I've been on Logynon ED for 3 years, and its only been the last 2-3 months that I've had the cervix mucus

Observing human ovulation is a very rare occurrence and very few clear pictures exist to capture the event. However, doctors performing a partial hysterectomy on a womyn happened to observe the exact moments of ovulation and took some beautiful pictures:

This is so cool!

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about how the new soap I'm using was really irritating my girly bits. Imagine my surprise when she turns to me aghast and says, of course it's irritating you, you're putting soap *down there*.

Wait, what? Turns out her mother had taught her that washing her vagina caused all kinds of bad things to happen, like yeast infections, rashes, excessive dryness. Now, I possess a very sensitive little lady downstairs and I've never had any sort of bad repercussions for washing her, and I'm a very thorough washer, every nook and cranny. So I'm just wondering out loud: have any of you wonderful people noticed any backlash from washing your vagina? What kind of soap do you use? Is there anything I shouldn't do while washing downstairs?

Thanks!

So my boyfriend is going to be home from deployment on the 12th of october. I am SO excited.

My period was originally supposed to show up on the 12th, but I am beginning to cramp and spot now. This does not in anyway concern me. So I'm pretty sure I will start my period either tonight or tomorrow.

Question:

How does my body know that I needed it to be done with my period early this month? lol. I know it sounds weird, but my periods are usually like clockwork, 28 days. I did get a paragard inserted in July, but it has not made my period irregular at all.

So how does psychology and biology mix here?

(On an unrelated note, why are we not allowed to tag our own entries? or am I too stupid to figure out how to do so the correct way?)

On Tuesday evening, I noticed that it hurt when I wiped after using the toilet, just behind my vagina.  I thought that the combo of a thong and control-top nylons just rubbed the skin a bit too much.  It's been sore since, but I didn't think much of it until today, when I pulled out a hand mirror.  Turns out there's a bump, sort of a round bit of extra skin, near the hole to my rectum.  It hurts when I touch it and it can be moved back and forth a little.  What could this be and how soon should I see a doctor?

okay, so basically here's my problem. i got stretch marks on my hips, thighs, and the backs of my calves when i was younger, i assume when i was going through puberty. i don't remember when they arrived because i don't remember them ever looking fresh. so, as far back as i can think of, they've been faded and whitish, like scars. i don't scar easily - maybe that's why they faded so fast? anyway, that's not really important.
the point is, somehow i managed to need a bra at nine/ten years old, got my period at ten, and was a c cup by the time i was fourteen, a d by the time i was fifteen, and a dd cup by the time i was seventeen, almost eighteen. if i'm being honest with myself, i was probably a dd long before then, but i didn't find bras that fit me until almost a year ago. (36dd, who knew? apparently NO ONE CARRIES THIS SIZE EVER and when they do, it's sized incorrectly. psht. dear audience, i'd like to thank the girl at lane bryant for helping me find two whole bras that actually really truly fit me and then ordering a bunch more to be sent DIRECTLY TO MY HOUSE. that was a good day. i digress.)
somehow through all these growth spurts and my coming to terms with the fact that i'm never going to NOT be ridiculously hourglass-shaped, no matter how much weight i gain or how silly it looks on me at my heaviest weight, which is right now...i never got stretchmarks on my breasts. not a one.
this is where you come in, vp. i woke up two days ago with really nasty, bright red stretchmarks on the tops of both of my breasts. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE. they aren't particularly large, but there are a LOT of them and they're very noticeable. thankfully they aren't high enough to where they'd show in a low shirt (even though i never wear actual low-cut shirts, i can't get away from having ridiculous cleavage so i'm basically just referring to any shirt that shows cleavage.)
some extra background - i'm eighteen, caucasian (could that be why they're so red? because my skin is practically transparent?), have actually recently lost about five pounds. as far as i know (tested last week from sheer paranoia, lol, guess it came in handy) i'm not pregnant, nor have i ever been. i am on the nuvaring, but i've been using it for...five months now? my breasts have been fairly sore and swollen lately, especially when i take off my bra. (and let me tell you, that motherfrocking HURTS.) i'm not pmsing until next week - i leave my ring in for four weeks and then have an off week, and i'm due to take it out on the twelfth.
so...what the hell is going on with my body? i know that women can experience changes like this until their early twenties, but is it really possible that i'm still going through some sort of puberty? pretty much as soon as that first training bra touched my skin at age nine, my tits have been acting like i'm giving them boob-steroids. is it possible that they could still be growing after TEN YEARS? i haven't changed any eating or exercising habits.
and to add to that...how the hell do i get rid of them? i'm on an extremely tight budget right now and i very sincerely doubt i'd be able to find pure cocoa butter for under five bucks. do vit e rubs work?
thanks for any help!
