ok, what is a good lube that i can find in walmart, drug stores etc. that won't cause yeast infections of any kind?
[identity profile] jazzysteffy.livejournal.com
I had sex about a week and a half ago and the condom came off inside me. It
didn't come out until the next day (about 12 hrs later) and I just pulled it out
and flushed it.

I could have been imagining it but I felt some soreness/pain in the area that
same day.

I'm on birth control, so I'm hoping I'm safe from getting pregnant - but can
having the condom stuck in you for that long cause any damage? Should I be
worried?

Thanks a lot guys.

Okay, so i know whenever I treat myself for a yeast infection, whatever medicine I'm using says not to have sex or put anything in my vagina for the full 3 or 7 or whatever days that I'm using it, but I'm curious:

Could I maybe have sex even though I'm treating myself for BV with Metrogel? I scrutinized my pamphlet/instrcution booklet/information sheet, etc. but I couldn't find anything that ever said, "Keep stuff outta' there!!!"

Just curious. I only have two nights left of using it, so I'm not going to die, but I haven't had sex with my boyfriend in five days and I want some action!!

But if it's a good idea not to, I will tell him to keep his pants on!

Thanks ladies (and gents)!!

So I was allowing my hands to do some investigating and feeling around on my vulva when I noticed a fleshy little bump (like a fleshy, tiny scab/mole.) In panic, I pulled it off. I have found one of these previously (three - four months ago), but really didn't think anything of it. It bled for a second, but then stopped. Now I'm kind of freaking out.

In August I had a Pap Smear and my results came back normal, as they did the August before.

What is this?

I have an appointment with my general practitioner on Tuesday, but I feel like I'm going to throw up. I've never had any STIs of any kind. I've been with my current partner for almost a year and a half, and as far as I know, he's been faithful.

Please help.

occasionally i see posts asking about waxing
if anyone is interested in waxing, waxwaxwax.com can answer your questions, and has a directory of places who offer waxing (the directory is a bit incomplete so if you have a favorite salon or spa, encourage them to list there)

My husband and I had sex last night with a condom, something that doesn't happen often (the condom part).

We had purchased the non-lubricated kind since we have lubrication at home (liquid silk).

Expandcut because it got way too long )

Thanks everyone. You always help me a bunch.

alright.

This isn't for me but more so for my mother. Now my mom and I have a really close relationship, my best friend, so we're open about lots of things.

This morning she told me that she thought she had a yeast infection. Apparently it was really raw, itchy and red down there. It was also painful, but not when she's peeing. She said she douched thinking it might help and she said it did a little. Now it's just kinda around the vagina opening.

She said she hasn't had sex lately because of this. She's been having sex with her boyfriend for about a year now. Would it be possible for a STD to show up this much later?

It doesn't sound like a yeast infection to me and I don't know if it's a UTI. Should she go to a doctor for this?
[identity profile] katarokkar.livejournal.com
My vagina is both kind of sore and itchy right on the edge of the opening, especially on the bottom part.

I wore my DivaCup two days ago, and I think it was badly placed with the stem rubbing up against me all night, causing my vaginal opening to feel bruised and chafed.  In that case, could this itching just be my vulva trying to heal?  I had actually put some Neosporin on the chafed parts (on my vulva, not inside), and I'm not sure if that is causing the itching now.  I've used Neosporin for other cuts around my vagina, and it hasn't itched before.

As far as the possibility of a yeast infection goes, would there be definite discharge if it were a YI?  I don't think I've noticed any cottage cheesey type discharge, but I'm also just ending my period and getting my usual brown gooey discharge.

I have read and heard from several different sources that all BCPs can negatively affect blood sugar levels and can actually cause insulin resistance. Anyone have any information on this? Thanks.

Hi there. Recently I have been suffering from frequent UTIs and I have a pretty bad one right now. I'm calling my doctor today to schedule an appointment to get tested but I wanted to talk to him about going on something to prevent these infections (they seem to occur after I have sex). I know there is a pill that you can take everytime you have sex and I was wondering what it is called and does is have any effect of BC (specifically Yasmin). I've changed my drinking diet completely. I drink only water during the day, no caffeine, and I drink 1 small glass of 100% cranberry juice everyday. Also, whenever I'm going to have sex I take a cranberry pill and a lot of water before hand. I make sure to go to the washroom before and after sex and I either clean myself or take a shower after sex. But, I still have had 3 very bad UTIs in the past 4-5 months. Even if that doesn't sound like many I have also had symptoms everytime I have sex (which is usually 3 - 4 times a week) which I have been able to get rid of with cranberry juice/pills and water. So, sometimes I'm able to get them under control before it becomes a full out infection but sometimes I'm not.

So, after all that rambling...I just need to know what the pill(s) is called that you can take every time you have sex to prevent the UTI and if it effects BC. If anyone else out there has any more ideas please let me know.

Edit: I found some good websites that answered my own questions. I'll list them here for anyone reading that is interested.

There is something very wrong in my abdomen.
I have excruciating pain on my left side. It started this morning. It REALLY hurts when I go to the bathroom (for both reasons.) I cannot stand up straight. I have slighter pain on my right side. At first I thought it might be a UTI or a bladder infection, but this is unlike any UTI or bladder infection I've ever had (and I've had one bad enough to hospitalize me.) There's no burning when I urinate. Just pain. Alternately stabbing and achy pain. I also thought it might be appendicitis, but the really bad pain in on the wrong side. BUT, it's near the time I ovulate according to my cycle charting. I can usually feel it when I ovulate, but never, ever, ever this bad. The pain is not only in my front, but all the way through to my back. And it's very low, almost even with my hip bone and about 3 and a half inches inward.
I've googled a bit, but if anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated. If this doesn't feel better in a few hours, I am going to the hospital.

EDIT: I am also experiencing partial blackouts, especially after I use the bathroom or poke my abdomen, trying to locate the exact site of the pain. By partial blackouts, I mean My vision gets dark and sparkly, and my hearing kind of goes fuzzy, but only for like, 3 seconds.

EDIT II: My dad doesn't get off until 5, so I will be waiting until then (because I don't have a car.) And also, the pain is worse when I WALK. (Which I have to do a lot of, chasing my toddler.)

As a follow-up to my previous post.

Are there side effects to taking over-the-counter yeast infection treatments if I'm not sure I have a yeast infection?

I had strep recently and was given antibiotics. I anticipated getting a little yeasty and got some Kefir because I've heard such good things. I've had Kefir every day since I started the antibiotics [Tuesday] and everything was fine until Saturday...when my skin down below started to feel a little overly sensitive, bordering on raw. Since then I've had sex a couple of times and have been bleeding after. Today I noticed that I've got some discharge and the itchies but the discharge smells different from the yeasty discharge I'm used to. Vaguely fishy...but like live fish. I was going to go get yeasty meds but now I'm having second thoughts. I can't afford another doctor's visit. Could this be bv instead of yeast? Whatcha think? Thanks, ladies. .) I searched the archives and stuff but no dice so far.

I've been noticing I'm getting a lot of cramps, lately.
They don't have anything to do with my period, coicidentially, I got it today, when I got the cramping yesterday.
It's a throbby, excruiciating pain, and it hurts to stand up all the way.
I was at cheerleading practice, and after I moved around a bit, it went away.
I've noticed this more, and more recently, maybe 3-4x a month?
It's always on my left side, and I never have my period, while I'm getting this cramps.

Also, is it legal to throw out your 18 year old daughter, if she gets pregnant, with no means to support herself?

Thanks, ladies. =]

Earlier someone posted about " Is it weird to ask a gyno where your clitoris is" and someone mentioned that they had asked their Doc where their G-Spot is and he showed it to them.

I was wondering if anyone else had done this? This makes me curious.... maybe I should ask my doctor to point mine out if she can? Would that be weird?

HHhmmm.....

I got my period a few hours ago and it's never really been this brown before. It's a little strange.

Also, does anyone else get upset stomachs 1-2 days before your period, or even while you have your period?

I have for the past year or two. Especially if I have anything dairy. Usually I'm fine with dairy, except close to or on my period. I know it isn't period pain, lets just say sometimes it's more than just stomach cramps. I actually get the runs. How nice.

Are any of you familiar with liquid latex? A situation may be arising soon in which I will be wearing a liquid latex bodysuit for two to four hours. I understand that I will have to remove all my bodyhair/coat myself in a thin layer of baby powder or whatever, but my main concern isn't quite along those lines.

I'm very prone to yeast infections... not so much as some women who post on here seem to be, but definitely more so than most of the women I know. How likely am I to be rushing out to buy some Monistat after this is all said and done? I have previously managed to wear a vinyl catsuit for a similar length of time with no bad results, and I take a daily acidophilus suppliment containing over 100 million active cultures (according to the bottle).

Recently, for about 5 days I've had dull pain in my abdomen, and random shooting pains on the left side of my abdomen to a few inches above my belly button. Not really nausious, but just soreness, its not really like period cramps, any ideas?

A while ago, I came out of the bathroom after a shower wrapped in a towel and my mum noticed that I have unshaven armpits, with quite a bit of hair. Now, I don't shave anywhere unless I'm showing off that part of my body (and I intend to never more than trim my pubic hair - a clean shaven area is just way too prepubescent for my tastes). Indeed, I haven't shaven my legs since August! Anyway, the conversation between me and my mum went as follows:

Mum: Eww, Jade, why haven't you shaved?
Me: I don't need to, I'm wearing a long-sleeved top!
Mum: But hairy armpits are unhygienic!
Me: ???

I can understand why if not kept clean, hairy anywhere will harbour more bacteria/icky things than a shaven place, but I do keep my armpits clean, whether shaven or not (I promise you they're shaved when I wear a sleeveless top!). I *think* her point is that I'll sweat more, but hey, your body is supposed to sweat, it's natural. I use deodorant and don't stink, so I don't see how it could be unhygienic - after all, my body does grow the hair by itself.

My point is, is my mother wrong like I think she is? Or does she have a point?

Cups

Jan. 23rd, 2006 06:39 pm
[identity profile] zellie-bean.livejournal.com
I'm interested to switching to a more permanent cup (I've been using Insteads) and have a couple questions...

I use a silicone based lube during sex and have sex when menstruating, would this be damaging to a silicone cup? (I think Keeper was the only non-silicone one? I heard bad things about their response time/customer service though ): ) and how much so? Is there anything I could be doing to avoid damaging it? Cleaning up somehow? But will I need lube to be getting the cup in (they look large compared to insteads!)? If so, recomend any lubes? I was looking into liquid silk but heard the taste was bad which would be a problem since my partner and I nearly always finish with oral.

How much leakage is normal with a cup? --I didn't trust insteads to swim with, honestly. They're comfortable but if I laugh/twitch/sneeze/etc too hard it seems like the entire cup disgorges itself.

Can you swim with a cup in? (that relates to leakage too)

Where/how do you store a cup?

Anyone use cloth pads in conjuction with a cup in case of leakage? What size do you use? I was thinking pantiliner for insurance even if cups rarely ever leak.
[identity profile] quixotic.livejournal.com
Hi everyone. I'm posting this on behalf of a community reader who doesn't presently have a livejournal account.

---

I've never really gotten menstrual cramps in my whole life up until now; pretty lucky, i know, given that i'm 24. I recently went off the pill because after 8 years, I realized that maybe I wasn't actually so 'crazy' (depressed, anxious, super mood swings so bad my boyfriend thought I was bipolar) and maybe hormonal BC just wasn't for me. Now I've got a diaphragm and a pack of condoms, and a great deal more emotional stability - yay! So anyway, I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is even cramps, so I thought I would ask here.

I'm supposed to start my period today or tomorrow, and over the last week or so, I've had these really strange dull pains in my clitoris, my labia, and sort of up along the walls of my vagina. This has been happening infrequently over the last couple of months (went off the pill in June), not necessarily only before my period, but definitely more frequently at that time. I mentioned it to my gyn at my last checkup (mid-December) and she said that she had never heard of menstrual cramps happening anywhere other than in the lower abdomen. The clitoral pain is the most uncomfortable -- last night I was lying in bed and the whole of my 'external parts' felt really tense and achy, with my clit as the epicenter.

One last piece of info is that my partner is a little rougher with his hands (during manual stimulation) than I would like (we're working on it!) but we haven't been together in a week or so; also, he is a farmer and doesn't necessarily have the cleanest hands sometimes -- when he comes to visit he usually jumps in the shower right away, but I still can't make myself eliminate the idea that some cow germs are where they oughtn't be. However, there aren't any other signs of an infection as I would assume that might cause -- no unusual discharge, no burning, etc. I've heard of smegma buildup/clitoral adhesion, but for some reason I have a lot of trouble examining my clit -- I'm fine with inserting/removing a diaphragm or menstrual cup but not so comfortable with the clit. I've tried looking but haven't seen anything unusual there.

Any thoughts? Much appreciated! I'll keep reading from the shadows and maybe someday get an actual account...

Thank you
Peace

Couldn't find this anywhere but the other day after I got out of the shower, I felt this tingling, sort of like it was itchy but not really, sensation in my vagina. So I decided to rub a little to make it go away. It went away for a second then came back.

I'm not actually itchy, it's like a combination of tingling with numbness and someone rubbing a feather lightly against it.

I've felt this before but could never pinpoint how or why. It lasts for about a day and then goes away. I've felt this in diff. situations not just after a shower.

Anyone else know what I mean? Or have gone through this? What is it?
[identity profile] xorangejuice.livejournal.com
Quick question.

On New Year's Eve, I lost my birth control. I wasn't exactly sure what day to take my last pill, so I just started right in on a new pack. Needless to say, it kind of messed up my period. I got it at a wierd time, and it's lasted a lot longer than usual.

I'm due to be on it again this weekend, but I have a pretty big weekend planned. I don't want to take any chances, so today instead of starting my row of placebo pills I wanted to just start on a new pack to delay my period.

My question is... since I missed the placebo pills on my last pack is it safe to miss them on this pack? Could it cause any other problems besides wierd period symptoms? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Just spent the last 6 hours in the waiting room at the hospital, and gave up waiting.
All kinds of kids were coming in bleeding, and little babies, and all that, so I kept going lower and lower on the list. I am not begrudging the children, I'd rather they get treated first, but this was just horrible. I wouldn't have been seen until 2 in the morning, and would have been waiting in the ER for results until like 8am tomorrow.
I guess I will try to go to the walk-in clinic tomorrow. 6 hours waiting is ridiculous.
The pain in my abdomen has gotten worse, but not by much, and I haven't had anything to eat or drink, so maybe that is part of it.
The pain has moved on my left side from near my hip to almost right under my ribs (like, an inch under my rib.) And it has gone from radiating in the back on my left side only, to the right side ALSO. Bleh.
Argh.
[identity profile] xorangejuice.livejournal.com
Maybe I just haven't seen enough pornos...

I'm confused as to where exactly the landing strip, welcome mat, or whatever else it's called is situated on your pubic mound when you shave. Is it really just a strip? Can anyone fill me in?
