So I got a call (a month later) from the Dr office that I got checked at for herpes. About 2 weeks ago they told me that my culture was clear it said I didn't have herpes, but the blood test came back positive. I accepted that to a degree but told myself and my boyfriend that I am not going to take the meds they give me until I have another outbreak because I still think that this doctor is full of shit. So I get a call today saying that my pap smear came back with cell abnormalities. When they told me this I'm just like, shouldn't they have told me like, 2 weeks ago? Paps don't normally take a month or more to go through. Not to mention, I went to get my birth control from planned parent and when they called the hospital, the hospital told them I never had a pap smear, that I still needed one.

I am so confused on what is going on and slightly terrified about these "cell abnormalities." The nurse was like it could be cancer, we are going to have to go in with a microscope and look closer at this I just told the nurse I was going to go somewhere else and I hung up. I think this office is full of shit to a degree, but I am still scared as hell. I looked some stuff up and if I DO have herpes, which it says in my blood that I do, couldn't that show up as an abnormality?

a simple question. i hope.

i've been off of Depo for about... 3 months now. how long does it usually take for my period to come back? i haven't really been spotting or anything. it's completely disappeared. i've heard it takes up to a year for Depo to completely flush out of my system... is that true?

could that be the reason why i haven't had a period? not that i'm complaining... but it would be nice to know now and then that i'm not pregnant.

also... if i were to go back on birth control.. don't i need my period? to start again, i mean.

i hope that's not confusing. thanks!

{side note: i'm not pregnant, and i haven't been.. trust me, i've been taking pregnancy tests}.

so i've been on the pill for about five months now..
i don't really know all the facts, but i don't think i need to know like everything.

my question is this:

if one were to fluctuate the times in which she took the pill(like usually takes it at six, but takes it at nine one night, and then at about five the next, right after having sex so not to forget) could she still get pregnant? especially if every time, the guy comes in her?

i take the pill also because it regulates my cycle..and my period should've started yesterday. my boyfriend is convinced the fact that i have uti right now is the cause.. could this be true?

sorry for all the strange questions..
but anyone who can answer would really ease my mind a little.

Hi,

I was recently (today) told I have chlamydia by the doctor that I had my yearly check up with, and I have a few questions for you guys, namely I want to make sure that I blame the proper guy (I don't want to blame it on my current boyfriend, if it is not in fact his fault) There's more info behind the cut (I hope it works, it's my first time..)

Thank you all in advance for your input!

I was going over my cyclespage.com calendar, when I noticed something: I seem to have longer period cycles (meaning more days between the start of one period and the next) during the months when I am NOT in school! I've only been keeping this since October of 2003, and it's not always perfect, but that seems to be the general pattern. I'm not on birth control or anything. Has anybody else noticed anything like this? I'm guessing it has something to do with stress levels and sleeping habits...but logically I think I would have a longer time between periods, not shorter, when I am more stressed. What do you think?

I'm procrastinating studying for my exams and I thought you gals would find this interesting. The mods can delete it if it's totally irrelevant, but I don't think it is.

I don't know if you'd here about this in the US, but a man up here in Canada was just convicted of aggravated sexual assault, by knowingly infecting women with HIV. Apparently, he was well aware that he had the disease but told the women otherwise. They proceeded to have unprotected sex and were subsequently infected.

Hey ladies,

As always, I've checked the archives and memories (memories were down, though), but if I've overlooked something, please, direct me.

In the last few days, I've noticed that my pee has been darker (well, more yellow), and has smelled really strong, a weird combination of clorox and licorice. Nothing burns or hurts, and I haven't been peeing any more or less frequently than normal. I can't think of any dietary changes I've made that could have caused this. I do have a pretty heavy coffee habit, but that's nothing new. The only plausable hypothetisis I've come up with for the color is that I have been drinking slightly less water (not conciously, just by conincidence), and with all of the heaters in the buildings going, I might be a little bit dehydrated. This does not, however, answer my question of this really strong smell. (p.s. I normally have very nice, light colored to clear, kind of scentless pee).

Thanks in advance for all of your help, you girls are awesome.

::: EDIT :::::

I just went down to the kitchen and realized that this gingerbread cake is exactly that strong clorox/licorice smell. The good news is, the problem is just something I've been eating, and isn't some kind of deadly kidney disorder. The bad news is, I will never think of gingerbread in the same way again.

I found this info on Planned Parenthood's web site and I think it's important for all of us to know.

People who know they have a sexually transmitted infection often feel the effects of the social stigma against them and are secretive about their condition. This has led to what has come to be termed a "hidden epidemic" (Eng & Butler, 1997). So many women, men, and teens in the U.S., in fact, have STIs that it is more the norm for millions of Americans.

Incidence of Sexually Transmitted Infections

  • It is estimated that more than 15 million new cases of sexually transmitted infections are diagnosed each year in the U.S. (Cates, 1999) — Approximately one-fourth of these new infections occur among teenagers (CDC, 2000a).

  • By the age of 24, one in three sexually active people will have contracted an STI (KFF, 1998b); moreover, at least one in four Americans — perhaps as many as one in two — will contract an STI at some point in their lives (AGI, 1993).

  • At least 65 million people — more than one in five Americans — are believed to be infected with a viral STI other than HIV (NCHSTP, [1999]). These incurable infections, such as genital herpes, human papilloma virus (HPV), and hepatitis B, have consequences ranging from recurrent painful outbreaks to chronic liver disease to cancer(CDC, 2000a).

Up until this past spring I never had any problems with my BCPs beyond them deciding not to work for me after a few months, which was okay... I deal with change pretty well. However, when I switched to Seasonale in May I noticed that I was extremely sensitive to the sun and would break out from my jawline up in a rash of tiny little wannabe hives. Now, before going on BC I maybe burned twice life -- as in really burned. I'd get a little pink but it would turn into a tan a few hours later. Obviously once I started on BC I got to be more careful and have taken to wearing sunscreen pretty much every time I'm out.

I just finished my second pack of Ovcon35, and I noticed that the last time I started my placebo week (I don't take my placebos) I had a slight reaction to the lack of hormones that was very similar to my reactions to sunlight over summmer. Three nights ago I finished my current pack and, sure enough, between last night and this morning I noticed little pink bumps showing up not only at my jawline, but also at the bottom right corner of my mouth and the outer corners of both eyes, which is odd. At first I thought maybe I'd gotten something on my hands, but I can't think of anything out of the ordinary that I've come in contact with. It could very well be the added stress of this being finals week that's causing the extra patches, but even so...

What gives?

Also, is there anything I can do about the bumps near my eyes? Usually they'll go away after a few dabs with benadryl cream, but that's not really something I want to put anywhere near my eyes.

Ack, help! I put in a tampax pearl and I didnt get it quite far up enough and I can feel it and it's bothering me soo much. I never use tampons because I'm so tight and they've always creeped me out. I need to take it out but I fear it's too early and once i pull the string it's going to KILL and snag on my skin because it's too dry. What do I do? I dont even have lube to help take it out. :(

I had a pap smear done about a month ago and I just got a call saying that it was normal, but the pap indicated that I've got actinomyces in my vag. The health worker who called me said that it's normal bodily fauna and it goes away on its own so it's nothing to be concerned about, but they would like me to come back next month for another pap to be sure it's gone by then. She asked if I've had any symptoms such as discharge or pain and I haven't. I Googled "actinomyces," but none of the articles have the basic info that I'm looking for. I'm not concerned, but if someone could shed some more light on it, that'd be super. (You know...personal experiences, layman's terms and the like.)

ETA: I started a new job 3 months ago, so I don't like taking a lot of time off just yet...How imperitive is it that I go back for another pap?

I've been on Yasmin for just over a month. My boyfriend is very excited about us having sex without the use of a condom. Although I would love to try it, I'm very nervous about the potential risk of pregnancy. I know the pill is 99% effective and the chance of me getting pregnant is slim to none - but I'm still a bit apprehensive. Can anyone ease my fears?

How many of you ladies feel that during sex, or masturbating, your clit is really sensitive? Everytime I try to let someone finger me, I feel like my clit wants to run away, and it's incredibly frustrating because I always have to tell them to stop, even though I'm really turned on. I hate not being able to be touched as rough as I want to be. Then after trying, my inner labia seem to feel chapped and swollen sometimes. Have any of you felt like this before? Any ideas on what to do? I know indirect stimulation os key, but I get frustrated even with that..

Sunday morning I woke up with an intense urge to pee. I NEVER wake up because I have to pee. About 30 minutes later I had the urge again, and it felt like I hadn't pee'd all day! When I pee'd, it didn't hurt, but right as my bladded emptied, I got this stabbing pain down there.

First thing I thought was UTI. I looked online, and I didn't have any of the other symptoms. Same with kidney stones.

I read something about Cystitis [I think I spelled that right], and that seemed to be what was up. I had been having that pain everytime I pee'd, from Sunday until yesterday.

Today, the pain was gone.

I'm wondering if there's anything else that can cause painful urination? I don't have Chlamydia [I've been with the same partner for over a year and I was at the gyno yesterday, who said my vag was un-sick], and I don't have a yeast infection [same, gyno said my discharge was normal and all].

I won't get my urine test back until January 10th, and I'd like to see if I could figure this out.

If it makes any difference, I had sex quite a few times on Thursday, oral on me and vaginal.

Thanks :]

So I posted this to [livejournal.com profile] menstrual_cups. Summary? Even though I'm nulliparous and under 30, I think I might need the larger sized cup due to leaking.

But then I read this link, also from [livejournal.com profile] menstrual_cups. Summary? The shape of the cup might make as much difference in leak prevention as size does. (Not that one cup is inherently better than another, but that women are shaped differently both inside and out.)

Essentially, I've decided this: For Christmas, I'm going to get a second menstrual cup. (I currently have the Diva in the prebirth size.) My current dilemma: Do I get the larger sized Diva, or do I try out a Mooncup? (I like the silicone, so I'm not really too interested in a Keeper right now.) Also, if I get a Mooncup, do I get the prebirth or the postbirth size?

If I only get one of them, cost is not really an issue, but I probably can't get more than one.

So I basically have 2 questions:

1) Especially if you have experience using more than one kind of reusable menstrual cup, which do you think would be best for me? (Never pregnant, 24 years old, 5'8".) Why?

2) Just for your own interest -- whether it would be of practical use or simply for your own curiousity -- which would you rather I got (to post a comparison with the prebirth Diva)? Why?

(I will doubtless make my own decision in the matter. Right now, though, I'm more or less torn, so I'm looking for any outside opinions I can get.) Thanks!

I know we're all special unique snowflakes and everyone's vag is pretty and there's not really any such thing as being too loose.

But is there any such thing as being too shallow?

My cervix is always very close to the entrance. I can touch it at all times of my cycle and at all levels of my arousal. And once you hit it, there's nowhere else to go (in me, at least).

Actually, this is really a sneaky twofer question. Thing one: Is there such a thing as being too shallow, and can I make myself deeper?

Thing two: I want to get something to use while I masturbate, so I can get used to my cervix being hit during penetration. I'd like it to be long, but not more than 1" wide, and it probably shouldn't vibrate. And here's the really tricky part -- it has to look super-innocuous.

I mean, we all know what a "personal massager" really is, and I bet everyone's mother does too. Right now I'm using an empty plastic travel- or hotel-sized shampoo bottle; that's the kind of innocent-looking thing I mean. But what's a cylinder of that diameter but of a significantly greater height? I'm thinking it should be at least 5" or 6", and there's no maximum -- it doesn't matter if some of it stays outside.
