I was watching TV this morning, and I saw a commercial for "1-800-BAD-DRUG". It was saying that users of the Ortho Evra Birth Control Patch are at risk of many medical conditions [blood clots and things like that] and should call that number for a free legal consultation.

Is the patch really that bad, or do I smell a scam?

Lumpectomy

I am gaving a lumpectomy tomorrow to remove a rather large pre-cancer from my right breast. I'm a little nervous. Has anyone had this done? What can I expect?

i just came back to the ER, where i went due to immense and crippling lower abdominal pains, vomitting, dizziness, and nausea. after a few pokes and prods, the doctor determined that my appendix was fine, and that i was conduct a urine test. two hours went by before they came back and said i had a tiny bit of bacteria in my urine, and that i'd be put on a regimen of cipro. as soon as i heard this, i told him that i have a long history of UTIs (i had them chronically as a small child, and then began getting them again in February. since then, i've gotten one at least a month, despite meticulous hygiene, constant drinking of water, cranberry pills, vitamin c, and acidophilous), but that i had no symptoms of even an oncoming UTI. the pain was most certainly not coming from my bladder, my urine is anything but cloudy/pugent, i pee no more often than a normal UTI-free day, and i have no pain urinating. he waved all of these aside--even my past history and chronic reoccurance of the bastards, which i am vaguely worried about.

when i finally resigned to the idea of yet another UTI, i asked him what i should do about the pain that leaves me writhing and crying on the floor. he prescribed me one dose of 800 milligram motrin, and said it should go away on its own.

am i right in questioning this diagnosis? i still am getting the abdominal pains, though i am no longer puking.

things to keep in consideration:
-i am an out of state student with out-of-state medicaid, and therefor my primary care physician is 250 miles away. most places are wary of taking out of state medicaid, and i will not be back in my hometown until thanksgiving.
-i am very aware of the symptoms and causes of UTIs, and am veryvery careful when trying to prevent them. however, they still occur.
-i have a very high pain tolerance, so if i'm crying, there's good reason. :(
-my abdominal pain does not appear to be originating in my bladder; the pain is much different than bladder pain.

i'm aware that there are all kinds of UTIs, but if this is one, then it's MUCH different than any i've ever had before.

Good morning, ladies... Another question.

I'm in an unwanted relationship. I mean I know that sometimes, this has to happen, but this one just isn't working out. Maybe you all have seen him before... Does the name "Discharge" ring a bell? Yeah. He smells really badly sometimes. And he always shows up at the most inopportune moments - when he actually leaves! It seems like he's there all the time.

All right, that's enough. XD Yes, I've been getting an abnormal amount of discharge as of late. Meaning in between my last two periods. It's really bothering me because it smells horribly, and I'm always afraid that people can smell me. (It's especially unnerving around my boyfriend.) I shot up some Monistat to no results. Might have slowed it down a little, but not very much.

The thing is, I kind of think that it stems from my tampon useage. (To head off any Diva Cup comments, yes, I've heard of it, but right now, it's just not feasible for me to use.) However, I've been using tampons since June, however I didn't have this problem to begin with. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Yes, my mum knows about it.

-:- Edit: Haven't had PIV sex. Actually, haven't been with my boy in a really long time, so I'm not exactly sure it would have come from him. -:-

I just got this in my email a few minutes ago, & I thought you all might be interested in this as well.

Target has ignored three attempts by Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) to determine their national policy regarding pharmacists' refusal to fill valid, legal prescriptions for birth control, including emergency contraception. But they cannot ignore hundreds of thousands of potential customers.

Pharmacies must ensure that women get their prescriptions filled in-store, without discrimination or delay! Contact Target now.

Is it normal for a post-op exam after an abortion to consist of: "Any pain?", "Any fever?", "How was your experience?", "Anything abnormal?" and "You can go now."

I thought they'd do a pelvic exam just to check for infection. Now my peace of mind I was expecting after my final appointment is gone.
