I was told that washing your vagina wish soap was a bad thing to do... now I try not to, but I have peircings down there and just rincing it with water is not enough to keep it clean down there... You are ment to wash your vagina with anticbacterial soap for after care and I have been doing that since. But is this still bad?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? Washing with soap does not aggrivate anything, so I didn't really think it was a problem...

Oddly enough, I couldn't find anything in the archives about bloodstains...

Most of the time, my period doesn't annoy me too badly (besides the cramping and the occasional really bad timing), but this time I started overnight. This morning, I woke up to find that the crotch of my poor Hello Kitty panties had been soaked through with blood. Usually, that only happens sometime in the middle of my period, when I didn't use a big enough pad- but then I have underwear I really don't care about and I just throw it away.

But I didn't want to do that with these, of course, and I also didn't want to throw them in the laundry all bloody (I still live at home) so I got online to look up bloodstain removal. The best one I could find was to use Hydrogen Peroxide. I don't know why I didn't think of this myself- I've used the stuff on small wounds before.

I had to pour it on the stain a couple of times, but it did come out quite well. For those who want to try it, pour the chemical on the bloodstain and pat the foamy stuff it makes off with a dry washcloth. After I got it out of the panties, the washcloth had blood on it, so I washed that in the sink with cold water and soap before throwing it in the laundry basket.

So HOORAY FOR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE! It will save your panties.

Ok, ladies, it's not too often that I need help, but today is obviously a different story...

*How common is it for men to get bladder infections?? UTI's??
*What's the difference between a bladder infection and a UTI??

Why do I ask?? Well, my BF woke up this morning and had some painful urination. Of course, he's lookin at me with a crazy eye, but I KNOW I don't have anything. I just had an "All-Clear" pap smear a few weeks ago, and I figure that my doc would have told me if somethin seemed strange. I looked up Chlamydia and Ghoneria (sp?) and they are associated with painful urnination but it also said that syptoms appear 7-21 days after exposure. I haven't cheated on him, especially in the past 7-21 days. Any ideas what's going on? Please let me know somethin because right now, he's practically convinced that I've given him somethin. Oh, and are there any places that can do CHEAP same-day testing (I already called Planned P-hood, can't get me in until May 2)?? I live in Houston, BTW...

I googled and looked in the archives and couldn't really find the answers I was looking for hopefully someone her can enlighten me! My 20 year old daughter is out of state, way out of state (me=Texas her=Las Vegas) attending college so I couldn't ask all the normal Mommy questions at her ER visit last night. Yesterday she called to tell me she was cramping and had been for a week and a half. She had her period while she was here on Spring Break early April, so I knew that wasn't it. I finally talked her into going to the ER since she was in severe pain. After hours and hours and CAT Scans and ultrasounds they told her she had an ovarian cyst that had burst. They sent her home with pain meds and special diet and told her to followup with a doctor in two days. Several issues here..She has no Dr out there, no insurance, very little money since she is a full time student, and a mom (me) who also has 5 other children at home on a single income. After normal living expenses, her tuition and housing, I am pretty much strapped as far as anything extra goes. There is a Planned Parenthood out there, do they help with this kind of thing? As as far as follow up treatment?
Is it normal not to remove anything after a cyst has burst? She has history of cervical probs (pre cancerous cell removal) does this make her more apt to have a cancerous cyst? Do cancerous cysts burst? Should I be REALLY worried about this? I read that lots of people have benign (functional)ovarian cysts and they are nothing to worry about, but this is my baby girl and of course I am terrified.
Any life expeience and knowledge on this subject would be much appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to read :)

Questions!

These may sound like stupid questions, but when does ovulation occur?? On the 14th day into your cycle?
Is it possible to get pregnant before the 14th day and after the 14th day when ejaculation occur outside of the body? For me when this happened, it was on the 11th day of my cycle and the 18th day of my cycle.

I'm just concerned because lately, I've been feeling really sick to my stomach and bloated. But, those could just be signs of PMS because I am suppose to start my period next week. And it could be from me worrying about being pregnant.

Sorry if those questions either didn't make sense or they were dumb, but basically, I'm just new with all of this stuff. And help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there,

Is there a way I can make my period go by quickly?
I started it on Thursday night, and my prom is on Sunday night. I want so much to not have to deal with it during prom. My dress shows VPL so easily, and personally, I am not comfortable with tampons at all, so I don't use them. Plus my period isn't regular so I don't know how long it usually lasts.
I heard that exercise can shorten the length of time that you have it. I jogged about a mile today, and I might go to the gym later. But does that even work? Is it even possible to control it?

Anyone have any ideas? I'm just a bit desperate.

Thank you so much!

Hi guys. New member here. I'm having a bit of an issue with tampons and thought I'd come here to ask for help...

Up until last month, I'd always used pads when I had my period. I finally decided to give tampons a shot last month. I experienced some mild discomfort and had difficulties getting it in at first, but overall I found them much better and more convenient than pads. Now my period came again yesterday, and when I went to put the tampon in I found I couldn't insert it more than 3-4 cm without it becoming quite painful. The first few cm would slide in quite nicely, but beyond that it just won't budge without me forcing it (and it hurts quite badly when I try). I've wasted five tampons so far trying this and it's beginning to frustrate me. I'm not doing anything different to what I was doing last month, so I don't understand what's going wrong here. Could anyone shed some light on this for me? Has anybody else had this problem? I'm going to see my boyfriend this evening and I'd much rather be wearing a tampon than a pad, it makes activities down there so much easier. ;)

Thanks.

A blood test recently revealed that I'm producing too much testosterone. my body has been properly breaking it down for the most part, so I don't have facial or body hair issues the way some women have, but I do have "adult acne" as a result--which just flat out pisses me off, because give me a hormonal break already.

that having been said, my doctor prescribed a medication called spironolactone (50 mg a day) to make the acne go away. I've done some internet research, and the side effects are minimal (dizziness, bigger boobs) but I'm concerned because this medication is frequently prescribed for high blood pressure--and my blood pressure is great. Has anyone ever taken this medication for hormonal reasons? If so, can you share your experience?

Thank you!

I was just reading through the signatures we've collected so far and it's pretty amazing. People from all over the world and most US states are participating.

Addresses and such found here.

Great debate found here.

Petition found here.

k, so nothing foreign within 24-48 hours of a pap smear, so i hear.

I assume this means no tampons/cups, so are you supposed to not go to the gyno on your period in general, or if you have an irregular period or something are you just supposed to use pads?

My real question is, are you supposed to go only when you're NOT on your period? or do they care? (i can immagine it getting a bit messy if you go while on your period) but what if you arent sure of your own scheduling, or are really irregular? tis so confusing!

on a side note, I asked my mom: "So are you going to take me to my first Gyno appointment when i'm 18 or something?"

her: ".... You haven't gone yet?"

Oh my mom pays SO much attention to me *g*

Thanks, ladies!

Recently signed the petition about the I heart my vagina buttons, entry here, reminded me of my own experience in highschool with Vagina-related clothing..

Senior year a production of The Vagina Monologues was going on at the local college in my hometown in conservative little North Dakota, and my theater friends and I went around putting up posters for the event, which got taken down because of the "subject matter." Our solution? I bought several white cotton T-Shirts and some Iron transfer paper and made shirts that read "Vagina Warrior: Until the Violence Stops" and had the date of the performances on the back.

And what did my school do the day ten friends and I (Men, women and transgenderd) all wore the shirts to school? Nothing to the girls. All of the "boys" got called into the office for wearing "inappropriate" things in school but that didn't faze anyone. All in all we got some positive responses, mostly negative looks from teachers, and a whole lot of support from our peers.

Our school and town is ultra-conservative, but as a group we didn't stand for it. I can definetely understand what those students in MN are going through, however, because just a few weeks later I was asked to remove a button from my school bag that read "Vaginas are cool" because it was inappropriate. I fought the matter all the way to the principal's office to where my mother was called and laughed loudly in the phone when he told her he was going to give me detention for the offensive button. I took my detention in stride, but never removed my button.

As much as this has been bothering me, I've been assuring myself constantly that it'll pass. Unfortunately it’s been getting progressively worse, so much so that I’m irritated enough to post a question on here about it.

I’ve only been sexually active for about two or three months now (in a monogamous relationship as well). Our first time was, to put it lightly, intensely painful. It was his first time as well though, so it was over pretty quickly and I was able to grit my teeth through it. The next few times there was still some pain, but not nearly as much, and I knew that this was completely normal. However, in the time following I was still left with pretty intense pain upon penetration. It feels like muscle pain, rather than burning or anything that would lead me to worry about infection, and is localized in the first few inches inside of me. All I can really do is try to relax and wait through it. It does eventually subside, but it is taking longer and longer each time to pass and I’m experiencing a decrease in pleasure with each time as well (very possibly because I’m so distracted by the pain) – so much so that I’m completely unable to orgasm during PIV sex.

I did some reading on this, so I know that some women who experience a significant amount of pain during their first time come to expect it (to some degree) for some time afterward and can also experience involuntary muscle contractions during penetration, causing further pain. My problem is, as much as I relax and reassure myself that it shouldn’t hurt, there is still a great deal of pain and it seems to get worse each time.

So, I guess my question is: Should I have any medical concerns over this, seeing as the pain is concentrated in such a small area? Or should I just give my body even more time to get used to sex? And has anyone else experienced anything like this?
