Stress *inducing* a period rather than delaying it

My friend who always comes to me for advice on things having to do with menstruation, sex, and the like, is telling me she thinks she got her period EARLY because of the stress/pain of getting a tattoo yesterday. And she said her doctor told her stress induces periods...She will not take no for an answer, but I've certainly never heard anything like that before.

Any truth to this? I've heard of stress being a big factor in DELAYING periods, but never inducing one early.
