So I went to my doctor yesterday for an exam to see if my presumed BV was in fact BV. And it is. :(
I was totally embarrassed, mainly because I've never had to go to the doctor for something so.. Eugh! She's never seen my vagina in the state it's currently in. I know BV is extremely common, but still.. Honest to God, even from just removing my pants alone, you could smell it/fishy through the entire room.
There was a lot of discharge, and I mean a LOT. After she had removed the plastic/clear speculum, I could see a mound of really DEEP yellow-looking discharge cupped inside. I'm kinda freaking out over that, because it seriously looked as if my vagina was having a bad sinus infection, that's how dark it was. Is this normal with BV? She also said that my cervix looked a little inflamed. :\
She wrote me a script for Metronidazole, as well as another for Diflucan (knowing I'd probably develop a yeast infection after). I'm wondering... As kindly suggested by other VPers in my previous post, I bought a bottle of an acidophilus supplement. Can I take that in conjuntion with the Metronidazole- in hopes of preventing yeasties? Or might that make matters worse/somehow make my body immune to it or whatever? I'm also scared that I could develop thrush instead or something (which I've never had before), but.. You never know! I've pumped so many anti-biotics into my system so far this year, it's crazy.
As always, thank you VP!
