Ok, I'm sure this has probably been answered before, but at the moment I don't have time to go look back and see, sorry. But I was wondering how fertile are you during your period? I would figure it would be very little seeing how the lining is coming out, but I am having a mindblock and I figured this was the best place to ask.

Also, what's thelikely hood of getting pregnant just from getting pre-ejaculate on the vulva?

Hi guys, I came across this link in a vegetarian newsgroup, and I'm wondering if there are any medical/nutrition professionals/students/etc who can tell me if there is truth to this? Anyone know if their sources are reputable?

I don't know if I believe the link, however. As for me, I've never had a "normal" period without the "help" of hormonal bcp, and while on a summer vegetarian diet, I do eat a lot of raw foods, and I have been getting a short(1-2 days) regularish, red-brown non-breakthrough-bleeding discharge. (also, definitely not pregnant) I don't tend to worry about my irregularity, as on the whole I feel great, and I've been irregular since I was 11. This just piqued my interest, since my "symptoms" are so similar to what they describe.

two days ago i engaged in unprotected sex twice, using the pull and pray method. (yeah, i know.) then early sunday morning the condom broke while having sex and neither of us noticed until after the fact. i was going to go to the clinic today and get the morning after pill, since they weren't open yeserday. however i just got my period very early this morning. i know i should probably be safe rather than sorry, but is there a good chance that i'm pregnant?
normally i always use a condom and am on birth control, but.. apparently i've become an idiot.

HBC + pill-taking-time

I just started HBC a month ago, and I usually take my pill around 10:00 AM. However, what exactly is the "window" of time that you can take it? Someone once told me its about 3 hours... planned parenthood told me nothing, and I'm just wondering. I accidentally took it an hour late today, is that okay? Should I use back-up protection for sex?
Also, as long as I'm here, I have to take a road trip tomorrow with my family. We're leaving very early, and it'd really be best if they didn't know I was on the pill (I don't live at home anymore, and they are VERY anti-bc). It'll probably be hard to arrange a rest stop around the time of pill-taking. Any suggestions?

hi ive got a few questions and id appreciate as many answers as possible.

i was on yasmin for 4 months and came off it at the end of june.

i stopped for my pill free days, had my period as normal, went back on it for 5 days then decided id had enough of it, i was having quite bad side effects. so i got another period on the 4th of july after i had stopped taking it, this period was very heavy and not like the ones when i was on the pill.

so my questions are:

1.  with the period i had on the 4th after i had stopped taking the pill, would that have been because i stopped taking it or did i have a "normal" period?

2. ive had quite a lot of sex (safe, with either condoms or the pill when i was on it) but on the 11th we started doing it without for about 10 mins, he didnt come so do i have quite a low chance of being pregnant since it was a week after my period and he didnt come?

ps. - have pcos too and my periods were all over the place before the pill.

Had My Colposcopy Today, What Now!?

I had my colposcopy today.  I took three Motrin before I went to dull the pain if I needed a biopsy.  She found one abnormality and did a biopsy.  It was uncomfortable but did not kill me to have this done.  What did bother me more was the burning afterward from the vinegar solution.  I have been cramping more and more as time goes by but not bleeding much.  From experience when should all of this subside?  I asked how long to wait to have intercourse and she said about a week,   how long would you consider about?   Any advice would be appreciated-Thanks

Birth Control, Unborn Babies and Defects

This is more an "Out of curiosity" question than anything really.

How often are children who are conceived, even with the mother's use of birth control, born with deformities and/or health problems? Does it happen at all, or is it just a precaution that is printed inside the packaging and books so that if anything severe does happen that the companies can cover their own asses?

Does anyone have any information on this subject?

Painful peeing after sex

After I have sex I always have to pee within about 20 minutes, tops. About two weeks ago it started to burn really bad when I peed and then was tender and sore, but went away after an hour or so. This past week it burned (again) but during sex it hurt a little, especially when my boyfriend would go deeper. I examined myself and my vagina was bright red but not swollen or anything.

A few other things I think should be mentioned: I've been seeing this guy for almost 7 months and have never had a problem with this before. Also, in the last month I had two yeast infections, one of which was pretty bad. But that has been cleared up for about a week now. We don't use condoms (I'm on birth control) nor do we use lubes, lotions, oils, etc.

Any idea of what this could be?

Im finding that my discharge [possible my urine] is starting to smell like old chicken soup.
I am at summer camp and we do eat a lot more meat than I would if I was at home, so Im thinking that might be a factor.
What kinds of things can I do to change the smell of this? I checked the archives and it said try yo eat less meat but it isnt always an option out here.

Don't know what is going on ......

I ended my period about 1 1/2 weeks ago. For about the next 4 days everytime I had sex .... it looked like old blood that was coming out. Then it stopped. Today after sex there was blood coming out, this time it looked like new blood. I am not quite sure what is up. Also I went tubing down a river a few days ago then went to work. For the next hour at work it seemed like river water was seeping out of my vagina. That doesn't normally happen. Any insight? I was about to make a gyno appointment but I wanted to post on here first. Oh, and I forgot to mention there isn't old or new blood coming out unless I just had sex.

vagi-gard expiration date

i know this is kinda a weird question, but bare with me. i've been having some strange itching the last day or so and it's obnoxious. i found some vagi-gard that i bought like a year ago and was planning on just using that til i saw the expiration date and it says 03/06 and it's now 07/06 and i really don't wanna go out and buy more so i'm just wondering if it's okay.. cause some dates are just there to help sell the product and others don't really mean much. plz lemme know asap! thanks.

Reasons for missing a period

Are there any other reasons besides pregnancy for missing a period entirely? My period was supposed to come last week, and didn't. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago, and it came out negative. I'm not sure what to make of this. I spotted a bit the week before my placebo week, if that means anything, especially considering I almost never spot.

I can orgasm by myself, but not with the boyfriend.

I searched the archives and found nothing about this specifically, so here goes:
I have masturbated since I was 12, and have never ever had a hard time with giving myself an orgasm. I have a pretty high sex drive, and always considered myself one of the "lucky women" who wouldn't have problems having sexual pleasure in relationships. I was very eager to find that person to share my sexual pleasure with.
Well, I have found him. We've been dating for two+ years, and only lost our virginities to each other this last April. We've fooled around for almost the entirety of our relationship. We originally had planned to wait for marriage to have sex, but just decided to go for it one night (let me tell you, I'm so happy that I didn't wait til my wedding night to find out that sex isn't always what its cracked up to be...).
Anyway.
My problem is, my boyfriend absolutely cannot give me an orgasm. Its not for lack of trying; he will do absolutely anything I ask, and anything he thinks would work. He always puts my pleasure before his, and would kill to get me off. In short, he is wonderful, but I think I am broken. Sometimes I even have to avoid sex just because I don't want to have to masturbate by myself just to have an orgasm. Its terrible. I have only had an orgasm once during sex, from the help of a vibrator. I just don't know what it is.
Its getting really depressing. I'm getting sick of masturbating after we have sex, and I'm getting sick of always having to give myself one if I want one at all. I've never even come CLOSE with him. Please help us. Its doing a number on boyfriend's self esteem, and my general happiness. Thanks!

My virgin boyfriend and my virgin self decided about a week ago to give sex the ol' college try. And it was a bigger disaster than previously expected. He couldn't even get in. I knew our first time was going to be awkward and weird, but I didn't make plans on how to deal with that situation. We tried a few more times, using different positions and such, but after about twenty minutes, the pain and frustration (but mostly the pain) was getting to me, and I soon was in tears. So, after getting some advice from the lovely people over at sextips, I've been trying to stretch my vagina, I guess is the phrase for it. First, I'll insert one finger in, then another, then maybe even a third, to kind of get myself used to penetration. I started today, so I put a finger in, but was only about to get an inch in before I hit a blockade. Whenever I pushed my finger against this blockade, even the smallest bit, it would hurt. I wasn't have a lot of fun, so I pulled my finger out.

So...do you think that was my hymen, or my vaginal muscles? I'm really nervous that I have primary vaginismus, so I came here to ask you all of the location of the hymen. Is the hymen about an inch into the vagina? Do you think that's what it is? And if, odds are, it is the hymen, any ideas on how to break it...painlessly (even though I think this is wishful thinking)?

Anti-biotics kill bacteria in the body. The pill works on hormones. Why does one decrease the effectiveness of the other?

doxycycline and birth control pills

I went to my doctor last week to get a prescription for birth control pills (and she prescribed Ortho Tricyclen Lo for me). I have been taking doxycycline as an acne medication for the past two years, and I asked my doctor if it was safe to continue taking it while being on birth control (since she hadn't mentioned anything about it), and she said it was fine and she had several patients taking both drugs.

Now, my previous research had indicated to me otherwise, but I thought maybe I had been mistaken, so I figured my doctor knew what she was talking about. But then I went home and - voila! - one google search for "doxycycline and birth control" and I found hundreds of pages saying that taking doxycyline can reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills.

I'm going back to my doctor tomorrow to get a pelvic exam (my appointment got scheduled strangely so she didn't have time to give me the exam last week), and I intend to question her further about this, plus I think I will tell her that even if she says it's okay to take both medications I don't feel comfortable taking them together, so I'll discontinue using the doxycycline.

But I was wondering if anyone else has had this kind of experience with their doctor, or knows anything else about the effect of doxycycline on birth control pills (it worries me that she tells all her patients it's okay if it really might not be!).

She also said, in response to my other queries, that there was "controversial" evidence about the effect of antibiotics and birth control pills, i.e. she did not tell me I needed to use another method of contraception should I ever find myself taking antibiotics once I get on birth control, which goes against EVERYTHING I have read on this community and in other places I have been researching birth control! Really doesn't give me much faith in her anymore...

Okay. I have a very serious problem and i figure that most of you (hopefully one of you) can help me.

I recently (today in fact) started a new weight loss program. I doubt many of you have even heard of it, but its pretty big in my area. Anyway, there is this shot and its Chorionic Gondadotropin(hCG) well its basically to help take inches off your waste. But when people use it in HIGHER doses its used as a fertility drug.

and i'm just wondering if this is still going to work with my birth control (Ortho TriCyclen Lo). Will it still be a good weight loss? Or if its going to like not protect me from getting pregnant.
