Weird lump inside vagina...?

Hello everyone...so about 2 days ago I felt what I only assumed were weird period cramps. "Weird" because the slight pain wasn't from my ovaries, but rather farther back, closer to my spine than my stomach. So, thinking I was starting a weak period with no blood yet, I put a finger inside to see (cause it'd suck if I had a bloody mess the next morning without knowing to wear a pad) and, while in there, felt the weirdest thing I've ever felt, both on the tip of my finger and inside.

Keep in mind, I'm 15, not sexually active (unless getting fingered counts...?) and I've never gone (nor do I want to go any time soon) to a gyno. Oh, and this is probably tmi, but I gain no pleasure from fingering myself, so if it was my gspot, which I doubt, it didn't feel good, just as awkward as always.

Anyway, I was basically prodding at a THING, not in the front, near my pubic bone, but in the back part, probably about 3 inches in, I felt a hard, long-ish, probably tube-like thing just all up in there. My first thought was "oh, that's my gspot." But then I remembered where it's normally found, in the front, and thought "um...WTF" when I moved my finger and realized that, with some pressure, it could be pushed front OR back, which freaked me out. The best way I could describe it would be an inverted cervix. Instead of one hole in the middle of fleshy bits (like in 2D internal vagina drawings), there were TWO holes and one fleshy bit separating the two.
That's just what my fingers felt. What it felt like to be touched there was really disturbing. It felt like a bloated feeling along with a "there's something pushing a warm hard thing into your spine can you not do that?" And I couldn't help but wince and shudder by how creepy, NOT enjoyable, this lump made me feel. Just fyi, I ALWAYS get that "can you not" feeling when fingering, it's awful so I never do it.
I still don't know wtf it is, it swells and decreases like how a normal gspot would, but its nowhere near my pubic bone and if nything, hurts more than it feels good, which doesn't really say much. Can anyone please help me know what it is?? It's freaking me out. Thanks

Concerned about yesterday's pap - "Inflamed" cervix

I had a pap yesterday. Admittedly, I haven't had a pap in at least 2 years, however years prior, they were always normal (minus the occasional yeast, or a one-time bout with BV).

My doctor said quite anxiously that my cervix appeared to be "inflamed", and discharge was also present. I asked what that meant, but kinda veered off track when I just blurted out to him "Well, my period's due on the 29th (tomorrow)." He seemed calmer after that, and said it was likely inflamed because my period is soon to arrive.

I'm not trying to disrespect my doctor (who is new, btw), but, of course, couldn't help but scour the Internet for answers as to why a cervix may be or become inflamed. And, ofcourseofcourseofcourse, everything had a negative spin - no mention of an impending or oncoming menses.

VP, can you please help? Could it really be inflamed because my period is coming? I don't, nor have I in the past 2 years, symptoms of foul-smelling discharge, etc. If any discharge, it's always been egg white-like during ovulation and before my period. No pain during sex - monogamous partner - condom use. Normal periods, blablabla...

Older Virgins and Pap Smears

I've read comments here to the effect that people who've never been sexually active don't need routine pap smears, and that the recommendations for all female-bodied people to have one past a certain age are there to catch those who can't or won't be honest about their sexual histories. Then again, I've also read things saying otherwise, including the official recommendations of various medical organizations. Does anybody know of any reputable sources that specifically discuss this issue? It's been quite difficult for me to find information, beyond the standard statements about how everyone over a particular age should have one, none of which include a rationale for that.

I'm asking because I'm a 28-year-old asexual woman who's never had any sexual contact and doesn't plan to. I know this is something to discuss with my doctor, too (when I get a new doctor, anyway), but I'd like to be educated on my own.

Frayed cervix??

Today I had my yearly, "HI THAR! I HAZ VAGINA! CAN HAZ PAP SMEERZ?!" appointment.

Background info: 23, non-virgin, only had one sexual partner, no pregnancies. MoonCup(UK) user for I guess a little over a year? Maybe two? Occasionally use reusable pads, had to use regular disposables this past period because my bag with "all that girl blood stuff" apparently got shoved somewhere completely illogical during a recent move and am still looking for it. :(

Now during my exam today the doctor mentioned that my cervix looks frayed, and the duck-bills had some blood on them. He wanted to know if I had had this issue before. I reminded him that last year the same thing had happened and that he had wanted to see if the pap came back irregular (which it didn't) and from there it kinda go brushed to the side. I have had some issues with bleeding after sex but I told the doc it hadn't happened recently and next thing you know we were moving on to some other topic.

Thinking about it, I feel like another doctor has noticed the frayed look in the past but it was just before my period was about to start and she passed if off as that being the reason. This was *before* I started using a cup and I've had the bleeding from sex before cup-usage as well.

I feel silly for not asking about it while at the doc's, but does anyone think the cup usage could be making it worse? I doubt that it was the *cause* given the info above. And how exactly does one "fray" one's cervix? Could it wind up being an issue later in life?

UPDATE (October 15th):
Went to the OBGYN. He took a look and saw what the previous doctor had talked about. He assured me that while it was friable it wasn't that bad and probably brought on by some inflammation likely caused by a bacterial imbalance/very mild infection. He didn't think it was caused by an STI either. He prescribed me a cream to aid in healing/anti-biotic and we scheduled a follow up appointment in 6 months.

All and all though, very good experience, and I got to discuss other issues regarding family history/feminine health and didn't feel rushed or as nervous as I sometimes do with my regular doctor. He reminded me a lot of the pediatrician I had growing up so it was easy to get comfortable with him, and during the exam he was describing what he was seeing and what that meant as he performed the exam. Strangely that seems to relax me more than trying to distract me with small talk. No amount of distraction is going to make me forget that someone's poking around my vagina. :P

I'll be giving my cup a *through* boiling to make sure any bacteria aren't re-introduced. And will be eating a good bit of yogurt this week to hopefully prevent the cream from killing all the good bacteria too. I'm thinking that I should look into different lubes to prevent irritating my cervix in the future too.

So yea, I'm feeling much better (although not looking forward to smearing goo all over myself tonight XP). If it turns out that the cream doesn't help or if the follow-up appointment turns up something weird, I'll update this post. Otherwise, I suppose consider this question answered!

cervical bumps?

i've got an appointment at the health department, hopefully tomorrow, maybe next thursday.
til then... i found a bump on my cervix (actually, two, but the second one is smaller). yes, i know exactly what my cervix is (my school nurse gave me an odd look and asked me if i meant "outside". no, my cervix, i'm not an idiot, the enterance to my uterus...)

it's... about the size of this O.
it's never been there before (i am quite certain of this) and i just found it about a week, week and a half ago.
any ideas what it is?

Diva cup troubles.

Hi,

I started using the divacup about a year ago but these last couple periods I've gone back to using tampons. For some reason, I always leak when I have my divacup in. The most bizarre thing is that sometimes I bleed profusely into my underwear and there's not a drop in the cup!

I've checked the suction and it seems to be secure, I clean out the little holes near the top each time I take it out, and after I put it in I move my finger around it to make sure it's fully expanded and not a little folded over.

I just don't have any luck with keeping the blood in. It works sometimes, but it just isn't reliable, and I'm pretty sure it's because I'm doing something wrong. I just don't know what, though.

I use the type 1 I think it is, the not-had-babies-yet one. I've considered getting the larger one, but I can't afford it right now and the mystery is that the one I have sometimes does work.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Two Uteri/Cervixes and Menapause at Age 21?

I'm trying to find out why I don't have periods.

My History: I have always had light/short periods that frequently skipped a month. I'd never been on birth control and my first visit to the gyno was at the age of 19 because I was pregnant. (I know, I should have gone sooner). I'm not sure if it's relevant or not, but I found out then that I have two cervixes and two uteri.

In September 2005 I gave birth to my son via C-Section. I bled for about 4 weeks after that. Then somewhere around 2 or 3 weeks later I had a period of sorts. It was much heavier than any period I'd ever had and longer too. I was supposed to start on Depo shots after that, but due to an insurance jumble, it didn't happen and I was prescribed Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo. So, I was going to start on that after my next period... Well, it's now half way though May 2006 and I haven't had a period since the beginning of November 2005. I'm about a month past due my trip to the gyno, but it's been a scheduling nightmare with my job now and my son and doctors appointments for him too.

Anyone have a clue what might be causing this? And for kicks, any fellow VPers with two uteri or cervixes?

Hitting the cervix: is that OK?

In certain positions, my boyfriend says he's sure he's "banging into" my cervix pretty hard. He said he just feels like he's stopped from going any deeper. And also like it's kind of tickly, which is amusing, but probably irrelevent. Thing is, I can't feel this at all. Is this a problem? Should I be worried that a) I can't feel it and b) My cervix is apparently taking a serious beating every other day?

Hello, pagina pals!
I have two questions.

First off, I was masturbating in the shower today and I've only got a couple days until my period is over (hence the shower). Anyways, I noticed that there seemed to be a clot on my finger. At this point, sexual energy turned into curiosity and when I played with it, I noticed it was very, um...sturdy? Solid-ish? I tried to tear it in half and it was very resistant- more so than I'd imagine flesh to be. I've always had these clots but they've always appeared more jelly-like. The clot-like thing also felt dry- surprisingly dry considering I was in the shower. So what's up?
(ps- I'm 18, sexually active, haven't gotten any in a couple weeks, STD free, my sister and a couple more distant relatives were diagnosed with endometriosis)

My second question is- what exactly does the cervix feel like? I saw that there was a cervix post earlier, but it didn't really answer my question. I think I've felt it before, but it really didn't feel like a baby-holder-inner. It didn't feel like any description I've heard before, either. So, what does it feel like?
(I feel so naive asking that, usually I'm dispensing advice to my friends, lol)

I read somewhere a while back that a woman felt alarmed because her cervix was so low. She said that it was nearly poking out of her vagina.

Have you heard of anything like this? It kind of creeps me out. What could cause this? I know that the cervix 'travels' during the different phases of one's menstrual cycle, but this sounds a little extreme!

Is that my cervix?

Hey girls! I have another question-type thing for everyone. There was a fairly recent post about someone being unsure about the location of her cervix, and I too think I just discovered mine today!

I've realized more and more after following this community for a while that I'm really not as knowledgable about my own body as I thought! For instance, for the longest time I was just terrified I had some sort of lump on the front wall of my vagina, but none of the docs ever mentioned anything so I figured it was okay. But today, I think I figured out that it's actually my cervix I have. a difficult time reaching around very far in there, so it's hard to tell, but I think I may have even felt a little "dent" which is I assume the opening. But it always felt like this lump was actually on the frontal wall of my vagina, so *does this sound like I have found my cervix, or not?*

Also, if it is my cervix, I reached it fairly easilly. I mean, I couldn't feel it very easily, but still, I have very short fingers. So I understand (now) that the cervix changes position at different points in your cycle. But even so, I guess my question, though silly, is: *how does my boyfriend's penis fit in there?* He's pretty well endowed, much longer than my fingers to say the least. Granted, it is uncomfortable if he goes too deep sometimes, but he's certainly not like only half way in. How does this work?

And then... if this is my cervix... isn't it... delicate? I always have this assumption that bodies are so easily hurt, which is why I was nervous about beginning HBC for a while, why I can't stand needles, and why anal worries me. (I'm not psychologically opposed to it, but it just seems like it's so delicate in there!) So if my boyfriend's thrusting away in there, even though it doesn't hurt, if he reaches my cervix, couldn't he potentially be doing damage? *How tough is the cervix?*

where the hell is my cervix?

i bought instead cups the other day, as a sort of prelude to the diva cup, to see how they'd feel and whatnot. i am generally pretty anti-insertable however, and i never ever use tampons b/c they are gross. however, it was very uncomfortable getting the instead in, even though my girlbits were pretty juicy and i wasn't on my period. anyway, they said to cozy it up to your cervix, but i couldn't find mine! i poked around in me but couldn't reach, and then i asked my boyfriend to poke around, and he thought he reached it, but i couldn't tell. i was squatting at one point and i was also in a semi-pelvic exam sort of position, so i don't think it was the position i was in. i know my cervix is high and off to one side, but should it be so far that i can't touch it? my fingers are short though, which i bet doesn't help.
anyway, it was such a frustraing, uncomfortable experience. i thought the instead was huge and it felt weird once i got it in as far as i was able to poke it.

i don't know if i want advice or just to whine about it... :x but i won't be able to afford a girlbits exam any time soon, so it's not like i can hop on over and ask them to find my cervix and pop one of those puppies in. i guess i thought something so nifty would be way more comfortable and easy to use.

I went to get an IUD placed a few days ago, and the placement was unsuccessful (a long story I already outlined in

iud_divas, resulting in a lot of encouragement and good advice) and so we tried to fit me for a diaphragm. And none of them fit! My cervix is positioned sort of oddly, it's kind of on the front wall (basically on the other side of my navel, but further down) of my vagina, and it's only about half-way in, meaning you can go way past it. So all the diaphragms would just slip past it and none of them would stay put on my cervix, not that they would have been functional during sex anyway. I guess this is an "am I normal" question, except I know that, while we're all different and there is no one perfect design, I must not be because I'm unable to use this very popular method of contraception. Does anyone else have a similar positioning? Also, because it's positioned so weirdly, I have a hard time imagining what delivering a baby would be like. It seems like the cervix should be at the top of the birth canal facing the vulva so the baby can just slide through. I'm having a little "I must be deformed and unable to have kids" crisis, and I know you guys will talk some sense into me. Please?

Cervix Confusion/IUD Misunderstanding/Pregnancy vs. Your Poor Cervix

So...I did some Google image searching...and I discovered that a cervix looks like one of those little Dots candy gummies. How cute. :)

Now, I'm pretty smart about my anatomy...but the cervix confuses me SO MUCH. How and why does it move/shift? Why don't I feel it doing so? I'm not sure how it fits in there most of the time, so if someone could show me a diagram, that'd be great.

Also, how big is an IUD? How does it fit in there? Why doesn't it block your period?

Now...I understand that your cevix only dialates so much during childbirth...but how much does it have to stretch?! Is it normally a stretchy little thing? Does it go back to its orginal size after giving birth, or is it a bit stretched? Can it tear or rip when you give birth?

What to do about a sensitive cervix

ANy time my cervix gets poked with anything including a penis it bleeds. It's like it gets injured. It sucks . . . . DOes anyone know what I can do about that . . . It is seriously impeding my getting laid.
