major chafing
Hello everyone!
I have a problem with thunder thighs... mainly that i have them. This usually isn't a problem, as i live in pajama pants or jeans (which merely wear out the soonest between the legs, as they rub together quite often.) It never really bothered me.
But recently, I came home from school and went back to my old job, which has changed our uniform from Dickies to...a skirt and fishnets. (classy, I know.) After working a shift tonight, my thighs were sore, and i figured it was just a bit of irritation that I can deal with. But after getting home, i noticed that the insides of my thighs are rubbing together so much, that they are beginning to bleed. (I'm assuming the friction of leg-fishnets-leg is what's doing it.)
So... short of bandaging up my legs or wearing shorts (which would show a bulge under a too-tight skirt), is there any way to chafe less? Preferably cheap and easy, as Mr. Piggy Bank is waiting for me to bring home the bacon.

or, try a looser skirt? something more broomstick-ish so you can have air and a pair of shorts?

These may work better because its not gonna cover where you thighs are. apart from those 2 options the only other thing I can think of is sports tape which is thin and just tapping the inside of your thighs where it rubs.

and I know what you mean by pants wearing out where they rub together, I've had to throw out 2 pairs of jeans in the past 3 weeks due to holes in that area.

and i really can't stick to pants while it heals... i work 40+ hours a week, and at my job girls must wear black skirts and black fishnets/hose. (My guy friend and i even tried asking if we could switch uniforms... let him wear a skirt and heels, and let me wear sneakers and pants! didn't work) And i have been putting lotion on my legs this past few days, thinking that might help. Do you happen to know how long it usually takes lotion to soften up skin enough that it would help?

my thighs chafe, and i actually use a really really thick lotion, like the body shop's body butter or the aveeno for babies kind... it lasts a good 6 hrs, and i have a small tube of cocoa butter in my bag to use to reapply.

At night, I powder chafed areas to help keep them dry while they heal

But one thing I've found to lessen the pain from the chafing is Solarcaine (or anything meant for sunburns). It burns like mad when you first put it on, but it dries everything up and the next day it shouldn't hurt anymore. :)

Alot of people have reccomended lycra, but i suggest that you go more the spandex route.
Difference? spandex is more shinny, while lycra is ... i guess you could say matte. If it gets a bit sweaty adn icky (as i know it will in a restaurant....i hate food services) it tends to stick to itself and ride up and stuff.
Spandex doesn't! It's a bit more expensive, but i LOOOOVVVEEE it. Look for Champion brand at a sport check. It's GREAT. A bit more pricy then lycra, but i think you will notice that it works better, and lasts longer.
I am a long standing believer in spandex, as i'm a skiier and a rower. And likewise, if there is chafing during a 20k ski workout (cross country) it's just not fun.
good luck!!! AND if your uniform is causing health problems, go talk to your boss? i'm sure that he would let you substitue pants for a skirt if you ... get a dr. note or something?

He got what are called sliders...they're boxer-brief-like-underwear that are made tight and of slippery material (usually worn by athletes to prevent chafing) - you could pick up something similar like bike shorts or just go ahead and get the guy underwear, lol. Whatever works.
I'd also suggest (as some others have) using some regular nylons under the fishnets. It'll be a similar effect of biker shorts - which will help your legs slide instead of rubbing.
Umm...they do sell many anti-chafing creams. Mostly good things I've heard are about Monistat but I'm sure there are other good ones out there.
********But for the big one - LEAST INEXPENSIVE - my fiance uses DEODORANT! Yep - deodorant. It has to be something without too much fragrance. He uses Degree which works well. He just rubs it on the inner thighs and it helps him a TON during 9-10 hour shifts on his feet. Although, he also has to wear those smooth underwear to help also...but the underwear alone weren't doing it. So I'd definitely say, in a pinch, the deodorant works. I used it recently when I'd been out all day at the beach and my pants happened to get wet and cause chafing - and it WORKS!
